Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan kajian sosiolinguistik yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi ragam bahasa yang muncul dalam interaksi jual-beli pada masyarakat multilingual di pasar Prapatan, Kabupaten Majalengka. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yakni deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data simak libat cakap, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teori penelitian yang digunakan yakni Ragam Bahasa berdasarkan tingkat keformalannya menurut Martin Joos (1967) dengan teori faktor munculnya ragam bahasa menurut Holmes (1992). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan ada tiga klasifikasi ragam bahasa yang muncul dari interaksi jual-beli dari keseluruhan data sebanyak 13 data yang dilakukan terhadap 33 partisipan tersebut yakni 1) ragam usaha (consultative) dengan presentase sebesar 54% sebanyak 7 data ditemukan yang menunjukan adanya tujuan komunikasi untuk mencapai kesepakatan jual-beli, 2) ragam akrab (intimate) & ragam usaha (consultative) dengan presentase sebesar 31% sebanyak 4 data menunjukan komunikasi yang dilatarbelakangi adanya hubungan kekeluargaan antara salah satu penutur dengan tujuan akhir mencapai kesepakatan jual-beli, dan 3) ragam santai (casual) & ragam usaha (consultative) dengan presentase sebesar 15% sebanyak 2 data menunjukan komunikasi yang didukung kedekatan personal para penutur dengan tujuan kesepakatan jual-beli. Sementara faktor pendukung munculnya ragam bahasa yang ditemukan dari penelitian ini yakni berdasarkan 1) status sosial, 2) jenis kelamin, 3) usia, dan 4) etnis. This research is a sociolinguistic study which aims to identify the variety of languages that appear in buying and selling interactions in multilingual communities in the Prapatan market, Majalengka Regency. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques of expert involvement, interviews and documentation. The research theory used is Language Variety based on the level of formality according to Martin Joos (1967) with the theory of factors in the emergence of language variety according to Holmes (1992). The results of this study show that there are three classifications of language varieties that arise from the interaction of buying and selling from a total of 13 data conducted on the 33 participants, namely 1) consultative style with a percentage of 54%, as many as 7 data were found which showed the purpose of communication to the purpose of communication to reach a buying and selling agreement, 2) casual style & consultative style with a percentage of 31%, as many as 4 data showed communication motivated by a family relationship between one of the speakers with the ultimate goal of reaching a sale and purchase agreement, and 3) the intimate variety & the consultative variety with a percentage of 15%, as many as 2 data show communication supported by the personal closeness of the speakers with the purpose of buying and selling agreement. Meanwhile, the supporting factors for the emergence of language varieties found from this research are based on 1) social status, 2) gender, 3) age, and 4) ethnicity.
