Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan salah satu tujuan utama dalam pembelajaran matematika, yaitu kemampuan untuk memperoleh, mengelola, dan memanfaatkan informasi. Penting bagi siswa untuk memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis agar mampu mengevaluasi informasi serta memecahkan masalah matematis. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa SMP yang ditinjau dari self-confidence, dan mengetahui faktor-faktor yang dapat memengaruhi kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, melibatkan siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP di Kota Bandung, Provinsi Jawa Barat, yang telah mempelajari topik bangun ruang sisi datar. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis, angket self-confidence, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada permasalahan mengenai volume balok, siswa dengan tingkat self-confidence tinggi mampu memenuhi indikator interpretasi, analisis, evaluasi, inferensi, dan regulasi diri. Siswa dengan tingkat self-confidence sedang mampu memenuhi indikator analisis, evaluasi, eksplanasi, dan regulasi diri. Siswa dengan tingkat self-confidence rendah mampu memenuhi indikator interpretasi, analisis, evaluasi, inferensi, dan regulasi diri. Kemudian pada permasalahan mengenai luas permukaan limas, siswa di setiap tingkat self-confidence hanya mampu memenuhi indikator interpretasi. Faktor yang memengaruhi kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa di antaranya, yaitu faktor ketidaktelitian siswa dalam membaca kalimat soal, faktor pengalaman siswa dalam mengerjakan soal-soal matematika, faktor kesalahan siswa dalam memahami konsep serta faktor kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan. Critical thinking skills are one of the main objectives in learning mathematics, the ability to obtain, manage and utilize information. It is important for students to have critical thinking skills to be able to evaluate information and solve mathematical problems. This study aims to describe the mathematical critical thinking ability of junior high school students in terms of self-confidence, and to find out the factors that can affect students' mathematical critical thinking ability. The method used in this research is qualitative research with a case study method, involving grade VIII students at one of the junior high schools in Bandung City, West Java Province, who have studied the topic of flat-sided spaces. Data were collected through mathematical critical thinking skills test, self-confidence questionnaire, and interviews. The results showed that on the problem of block volume, students with high self-confidence level were able to fulfill the indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and self-regulation. Students with a moderate level of self-confidence are able to fulfill the indicators of analysis, evaluation, explanation, and self-regulation. Students with a low level of self-confidence are able to fulfill the indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and self-regulation. Then on the problem of the surface area of the pyramid, students at each self-confidence level were only able to fulfill the interpretation indicator. Factors that influence students' mathematical critical thinking skills include students' inaccuracy in reading problem sentences, students' experience in working on math problems, students' errors in understanding concepts and students' difficulties in solving problems.
