Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan rendahnya keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa yang menjadi salah satu hambatan dalam proses pembelajaran. Untuk mengasah keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa, guru perlu memilih model pembelajaran yang sesuai. Terdapat dua model yang dipandang dapat mengasah keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa, yaitu model pembelajaran DRTA (Directed Reading Thinking Activity) dan model pembelajaran SQ3R (Survey Question Read Recite Review). Tetapi, kedua model tersebut memiliki masing-masing karakteristik yang berbeda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan antara model pembelajaran DRTA dengan SQ3R dalam keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah Quasi-Eksperiment dengan desain Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN di Garut, Jawa Barat. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes yang telah divalidasi sebelumnya. Analisis data diolah dengan bantuan SPSS versi 25, menggunakan uji-t untuk membandingkan skor keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa antara kedua kelas. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran DRTA dengan model pembelajaran SQ3R itu berbeda. Perbedaan terletak pada indikator memprediksi isi teks bacaan, menuliskan kembali isi teks bacaan dengan bahasa sendiri, dan menjawab pertanyaan sesuai teks bacaan. Model pembelajaran SQ3R unggul 19,81% dibandingkan model pembelajaran DRTA, sehingga direkomendasikan untuk menggunakan model pembelajaran SQ3R yang cukup efektif dalam melatih keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa. This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension skills of students which is one of the obstacles in the learning process. To hone students' reading comprehension skills, teachers need to choose the appropriate learning model. There are two models that are considered to be able to hone students' reading comprehension skills, namely the DRTA (Directed Reading Thinking Activity) learning model and the SQ3R (Survey Question Read Recite Review) learning model. However, both models have different characteristics. This study aims to determine the differences between the DRTA and SQ3R learning models in the reading comprehension skills of fifth grade elementary school students. The research method used is Quasi-Experiment with Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this study were fifth grade elementary school students in Garut, West Java. Data were collected using previously validated test instruments. Data analysis was processed with the help of SPSS version 25, using the t-test to compare students' reading comprehension skill scores between the two classes. The results of this study showed that the reading comprehension skills of students using the DRTA learning model and the SQ3R learning model were different. The difference lies in the indicators of predicting the contents of the reading text, rewriting the contents of the reading text in your own language, and answering questions according to the reading text. The SQ3R learning model is 19.81% superior to the DRTA learning model, so it is recommended that the SQ3R learning model is quite effective in training students' reading comprehension skills.
