Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memperoleh gambaran tentang kemampuan numerasi peserta didik yang menggunakan model Problem-Based Learning serta pengaruh model Problem-Based Learning terhadap perolehan dan peningkatan kemampuan numerasi peserta didik pada materi peluang. Pendekatan yang digunanakan pada penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan pra-eksperimen. Penelitian deskriptif menganalisis tentang rata-rata, simpangan baku, dan kemiringan dari distribusi peserta didik sebelum penerapan model Problem-Based Learning dan sesudah penerapan model Problem-Based Learning. Penelitian kuantitatif ini menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa: (i) Kemampuan numerasi peserta didik setelah belajar dengan model Problem-Based Learning lebih tinggi daripada sebelum penerapan model Problem-Based Learning. (ii) Rata-rata peningkatan kemampuan numerasi peserta didik termasuk dalam kriteria peningkatan sedang. (iii) Model Problem-Based Learning berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap perolehan kemampuan numerasi peserta didik. (iv) Rata-rata peningkatan kemampuan numerasi peserta didik dengan model Problem-Based Learning kurang atau tidak lebih tinggi dari 0,7 atau model Problem-Based Learning kurang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi peserta didik. This research aims to analyze and obtain an overview of the numeracy skills of students who use the Problem-Based Learning model and the effect of the Problem-Based Learning model on the acquisition and improvement of students numeracy skills on chance material. The approach used in this research is quantitative approach with descriptive method and pre-experiment. Descriptive research analyzes the mean, standard deviation, and slope of the distribution of students before the application of Problem-Based Learning model and after the application of Problem-Based Learning model. This quantitative research uses a one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were students of grade VIII in one of the public junior high schools in Bandung City. From this research, it was concluded that: (i) Students numeracy skills after learning with Problem-Based Learning model is higher than before the application of Problem-Based Learning model. (ii) The average improvement in students' numeracy skills is included in the criteria for moderate improvement. (iii) The Problem-Based Learning model has a significant effect on the acquisition of learners numeracy skills. (iv) The average increase in students numeracy skills with the Problem-Based Learning model is less or not higher than 0.7 or the Problem-Based Learning model is less effective for improving students' numeracy skills.
