Abstract
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang menerapkan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan STEM. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena rendahnya literasi sains siswa kelas 4 di SDN Aren Jaya IV, hal ini dilihat dari hasil belajar siswa yang masih dibawah nilai KKM atau ≤ 70. Rendahnya literasi sains siswa ini disebabkan oleh pembelajaran didalam kelas yang masih menggunakan pendekatan konvensional dan pembelajaran yang kurang bervariasi. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) ini dilaksanakan sebanyak 2 siklus, yang setiap siklus terdiri dari 4 tahapan yakni perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan terhadap siswa kelas IV di SDN Aren Jaya IV yang berjumlah 24 orang siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan pendekatan STEM untuk meningkatkan literasi sains siswa, aktivitas siswa dan guru pada saat menerapkan pendekatan STEM, serta peningkatan literasi sains siswa. Instrument yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi siswa dan guru serta tes untuk mengukur literasi sains siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada siklus I terdapat 10 siswa (41,6%) yang mencapai nilai KKM sedangkan terdapat 14 siswa (58,4%) yang belum mencapai nilai KKM. Pada siklus II menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 21 siswa (87,5%) yang berhasil mencapai nilai KKM sedangkan terdapat 3 siswa (12,5%) yang belum mencapai nilai KKM. Peningkatan literasi sains siswa tertinggi pada penelitian ini terdapat pada indikator mengidentifikasi pendapat ilmiah yang valid. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, maka penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pendekatan STEM dapat meningkatkan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar. ----- This research is a classroom action research that implements learning using the STEM approach. This research was conducted because of the low science literacy of grade 4 students at SDN Aren Jaya IV, this can be seen from the learning outcomes of students who are still below the KKM score or ≤ 70. The low science literacy of students is caused by learning in the classroom that still uses conventional approaches and learning that is less varied. This Classroom Action Research (PTK) was carried out in 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of 4 stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. This research was conducted on grade IV students at SDN Aren Jaya IV, totalling 24 students. This study aims to determine the application of the STEM approach to improve students' science literacy, student and teacher activities when applying the STEM approach, and the improvement of students' science literacy. The instruments used in this study were student and teacher observation sheets and tests to measure students' science literacy. The results of this study showed that in cycle I there were 10 students (41.6%) who reached the KKM score while there were 14 students (58.4%) who had not reached the KKM score. In cycle II, it showed that there were 21 students (87.5%) who reached the KKM score while there were 3 students (12.5%) who had not reached the KKM score. The highest increase in students' science literacy in this study was in the indicator of identifying valid scientific opinions. Based on this, this study shows that learning by applying the STEM approach can improve the science literacy of elementary school students.
