Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat pentingnya kemampuan spatial sense dikuasai siswa sekolah dasar. Namun, kemampuan spatial sense siswa masih tergolong rendah. Hal tersebut dikarenakan pembelajaran yang berlangsung belum menumbuhkan keaktifan siswa dalam mengontruksi sebuah pengetahuan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk dapat mengetahui pengaruh dan peningkatan dari penerapan pendekatan Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) berbantuan geoboard terhadap kemampuan spatial sense siswa. Pada penelitian ini sampel yang diambil adalah 56 siswa yang berasal dari kelas 4 di SDN Lebakgede, 28 siswa berasal dari kelas eksperimen yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan CPA berbantuan geoboard dan 28 siswa berada di kelas kontrol dengan mendapatkan pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) sebagai pembelajaran konvensionalnya. Metode penelitian yang diambil adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain non-equivalent control group. Penelitian ini mengumpulkan dua data yaitu data tes (pretest dan posttest) dan data non tes (jurnal harian, lembar observasi, dan dokumentasi) yang akan dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan spatial sense siswa yang menggunakan pendekatan CPA berbantuan geoboard lebih baik dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional serta terdapat pengaruh positif dalam menggunakan pendekatan CPA berbantuan geoboard terhadap kemampuan spatial sense siswa. Dengan demikian, pendekatan CPA berbantuan geoboard dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran khususnya pada siswa kelas IV materi bangun datar. ----- This research was conducted to examine the importance of spatial sense skills among elementary school students. However, students' spatial sense skills are still considered low, likely due to the current teaching methods not effectively fostering active construction of knowledge among students. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence and improvement resulting from the application of the Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) approach with geoboards on students' spatial sense skills. The study involved a sample of 56 fourth-grade students from SDN Lebakgede, with 28 students in the experimental group receiving instruction using the CPA approach with geoboards, and 28 students in the control group receiving Problem-Based Learning (PBL) as their conventional teaching method. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. Two types of data were collected: test data (pretest and posttest) and non-test data (daily journals, observation sheets, and documentation), which were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis methods. The results indicated that there was a significant improvement in spatial sense skills among students who received instruction using the CPA approach with geoboards compared to those who received conventional PBL instruction. There was also a positive impact observed when using the CPA approach with geoboards on students' spatial sense skills. Therefore, the CPA approach with geoboards could be considered as an effective alternative for teaching, especially for fourth-grade students learning plane geometry concepts.
