Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan bernalar kritis peserta didik fase B pada materi “Aku dan Kebutuhanku” mata pelajaran Ilmu Pendidikan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS). Peserta didik masih kesulitan membedakan kebutuhan dan keinginan masing-masing. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan oleh guru untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bernalar kritis adalah penggunaan bahan ajar pada proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat, menganalisis, dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan bernalar kritis peserta didik fase B yang menggunakan bahan ajar dan buku teks utama IPAS dalam materi aku dan kebutuhanku. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian quasi exsperiment dan non-equivalent control group pre-test post-test design. Sampel pada penelitian kali ini sebanyak 56 peserta didik Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Kabupaten Bandung Barat yang terbagi dalam dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Hasil pada penelitian ini yaitu: 1) secara deskriptif, skor gambaran kemampuan awal peserta didik kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol memiliki nilai yang masih rendah; 2) secara deskriptif, skor perolehan akhir kemampuan bernalar kritis di kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol; 3) rata-rata peningkatan skor kemampuan bernalar kritis di kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol; dan 4) adanya perbedaan yang signifikan dari pengaruh penggunaan bahan ajar IPAS. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan untuk guru dalam pembelajaran IPAS untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bernalar kritis peserta didik pada materi “Aku dan Kebutuhanku” dalam mencapai kompetensi yang optimal. This research was motivated by the low critical reasoning abilities of phase B students in “my material and my needs” in natural and social science education (IPAS) subjects. Students still have difficulty distinguishing between their individual needs and desires. One effort that teachers can make to improve critical reasoning skills is the use of teaching materials in the learning process. This research aims to see, analyze and describe the critical reasoning abilities of phase B students who use teaching materials and the main science textbooks in “my material and my needs”. The method used in this research is quantitative with a quasi-experimental research design and non-equivalent control group pre-test post-test design. The sample in this research was 56 public elementary school students in West Bandung Regency who were divided into two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The results of this research are: 1) descriptively, the initial ability description scores of students in the experimental class and control class are still low; 2) descriptively, the final score of critical reasoning ability in the experimental class was higher compared to the control class; 3) the average increase in critical reasoning ability scores in the experimental class was higher compared to the control class; 4) there is a significant difference in the influence of using science teaching materials. The results of this research can be used as material for consideration for teachers in science and science learning to improve students' critical reasoning abilities on “my material and my needs” in achieving optimal competency.
