Abstract

Fenomena adaptasibilitas mahasiswa baru di Perguruan Tinggi merupakan suatu hal yang lumrah terjadi di kalangan mahasiswa baru. Setiap mahasiswa baru tentunya memiliki ekspektasi yang baik dalam menempuh proses penyesuaian diri di lingkungan baru, salah satunya yaitu mampu beradaptasi dengan lingkungan barunya dengan menciptakan sikap keterbukaan dan menerima segala perbedaan karakter serta budaya teman-teman baru sehingga kedepannya dapat menjalin ikatan pertemanan yang diharapkan mampu menunjang dalam berjalannya proses perkuliahan baik dari segi akademik maupun organisasi kemahasiswaan, maka dari itu dibutuhkan kemampuan self-leadership dalam proses beradaptasi baik dalam perkuliahan maupun dalam berorganisasi di kampus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur seberapa besar tingkat self-leadership serta mengkaji pengaruh self-leadership terhadap pola adaptasi akademik dan organisasi kemahasiswaan pada mahasiswa baru di Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Populasi yang menjadi sampel pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa baru angkatan 2023 dari FPIPS UPI yang diambil berdasarkan rumus Slovin sebanyak 92 responden. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh mayoritas tingkat self-leadership pada mahasiswa baru di FPIPS UPI berada pada kategori sedang. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa baru di FPIPS UPI memiliki karakteristik inti self-leadership yang cukup baik. Hasil analisis regresi linear sederhana pada variabel self-leadership (X) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pola adaptasi akademik (Y1) dan organisasi kemahasiswaan (Y2). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa self-leadership memberikan dampak dalam perkembangkan soft skill mahasiswa baru yang kemudian dengan soft skill tersebut dapat membantu dalam menjalankan aktivitas perkuliahan baik dalam bidang akademik maupun dalam berorganisasi. The phenomenon of adaptability of new students in higher education is a common thing that occurs among new students. Every new student certainly has good expectations in going through the process of adjusting to a new environment, one of which is being able to adapt to their new environment by creating an attitude of openness and accepting all differences in the character and culture of new friends so that in the future they can establish friendship ties which are expected to support the running of the lecture process both in terms of academics and student organizations, therefore self-leadership skills are needed in the process of adapting both in lectures and in organizing on campus. This study aims to measure the level of self-leadership and examine the effect of self-leadership on academic adaptation patterns and student organizations in new students at the Indonesian Education University. The population sampled in this study were freshmen class 2023 from FPIPS UPI who were taken based on the Slovin formula as many as 92 respondents. This study uses a quantitative approach with data collection techniques using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Based on the data obtained, the majority of self-leadership levels in new students at FPIPS UPI are in the moderate category. This indicates that most new students at FPIPS UPI have fairly good self-leadership core characteristics. The results of simple linear regression analysis on the self-leadership variable (X) have a positive and significant effect on academic adaptation patterns (Y1) and student organizations (Y2). This shows that self-leadership has an impact on the development of new student soft skills which then with these soft skills can help in carrying out lecture activities both in the academic field and in organizations.
