Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh terbatasnya penelitian mengenai pandangan orang tua tentang metode time out dan peranan metode tersebut dalam kedisiplinan anak usia dini. Salah satu alternatif yang dapat orang tua gunakan dalam kedisiplinan anak usia dini adalah menggunakan metode time out. Namun saat ini, penggunaan metode time out dalam kedisiplinan anak usia dini masih terbatas, terutama untuk meningkatkan sikap disiplin anak yang masih rendah serta anggapan bahwa metode time out merupakan hukuman bagi anak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendalami pandangan serta tanggapan orang tua tentang metode time out dan peranannya dalam kedisiplinan pada anak usia dini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus melalui wawancara kepada dua ibu yang menerapkan metode time out pada anaknya. Alasan peneliti menggunakan metode studi kasus agar memperoleh gambaran yang mendalam mengenai pandangan orang tua tentang metode time out dan peranannya dalam kedisiplinan anak usia dini. Kemudian data dianalisis menggunakan teknik grounded theory. Temuan penelitian dari kedua ibu tersebut menunjukan bahwa dalam penggunaan metode time out oleh orang tua pada anak mampu meredam emosi. Ada pula berdamai dengan emosi melalui penggunaan metode time out, hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari dampak yang muncul setelah menerapkan metode time out dan adanya refleksi yang diberikan orang tua tentang penggunaan metode time out dalam kedisiplinan anak usia dini. Selanjutnya, dalam penelitian yang serupa terkait pandangan orang tua tentang metode time out dan peranannya dalam kedisiplinan anak usia dini, hendaknya lebih memfokuskan terhadap batasan apa saja yang bisa digunakan dalam kedisiplinan dengan menggunakan metode time out itu sendiri. This research is motivated by the limited research regarding parents' views on the time out method and the role of this method in early childhood discipline. One alternative that parents can use in early childhood discipline is to use the time out method. However, at present, the use of the time-out method in early childhood discipline is still limited, especially to improve the child's disciplinary attitude which is still low and the assumption that the time-out method is a punishment for children. The purpose of this study was to explore the views and responses of parents regarding the time-out method and its role in discipline in early childhood. This study used a qualitative approach with the case study method through interviews with two mothers who applied the time out method to their children. The reason researchers use the case study method is to obtain an in-depth picture of parents' views on the time out method and its role in early childhood discipline. Then the data were analyzed using grounded theory techniques. The research findings from the two mothers show that in the use of the time-out method by parents, children are able to reduce emotions. There is also peace with emotions through the use of the time out method, this can be seen from the impact that arises after applying the time out method and the reflections given by parents about using the time out method in early childhood discipline. Furthermore, in similar research related to parents' views about the time-out method and its role in early childhood discipline, they should focus more on what limitations can be used in discipline using the time-out method itself.
