Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi banyak siswa yang lebih memilih bermain handphone dari pada membaca, hal tersebut menujukkan rendahnya karakter gemar membaca. Karakter gemar membaca merupakan salah satu pendidikan karakter yang diajarkan dalam pembelajaran di sekolah. Implementasi pendidikan karakter salah satunya dilakukan melalui program Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS). Program ini dilakukan dengan upaya untuk menumbuhkan budaya gemar membaca dan menulis pada siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa terdapat implikasi dari program Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) terhadap pembinaan nilai karakter gemar membaca, hal ini berdasarkan hasil rekapitulasi kuesioner dimana hasil rata-rata setiap butir pernyataan pada kuesioner sudah dijawab tepat oleh siswa. Ini menunjukkan bahwasannya siswa kelas IV SDN 1 Muara Ciujung Barat sudah mempunyai sikap dan karakter gemar membaca yang dibina melalui program Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS). Pelaksanaan program Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) di kelas IV SDN 1 Muara Ciujung Barat dilaksanakan setiap hari selama lima belas menit sebelum jam pembelajaran. Strategi yang dilakukan oleh guru adalah dengan membebaskan siswa untuk membaca buku yang mereka sukai, tujuannya adalah untuk menanamkan kecintaan siswa terhadap membaca. Selain itu evaluasi yang terlihat nyata adalah siswa kelas IV SDN 1 Muara Ciujung Barat yang tadinya belum bisa membaca sekarang sudah bisa dan lancar membaca. Along with the development of technology, many students prefer to play cellphones rather than reading, this shows the low character of reading. The character of fond of reading is one of the character education taught in learning at school. The implementation of character education is carried out through the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program. This program is carried out in an effort to foster a culture of reading and writing in students. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The results revealed that there are implications of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program on fostering the character value of reading, this is based on the results of the questionnaire recapitulation where the average results of each statement item on the questionnaire have been answered correctly by students. This shows that the fourth grade students of SDN 1 Muara Ciujung Barat already have attitudes and characters who like to read which are fostered through the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program. The implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program in class IV of SDN 1 Muara Ciujung Barat is carried out every day for fifteen minutes before learning hours. The strategy carried out by the teacher is to free students to read the books they like, the aim is to instill students' love of reading. In addition, the evaluation that can be seen is that the fourth grade students of SDN 1 Muara Ciujung Barat who previously could not read are now able and fluent in reading.
