Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena minimnya guru laki-laki di satuan PAUD. Salah satu faktor minimnya keberadaan guru PAUD laki-laki karena banyaknya persepsi masyarakat yang meragukan kemampuan guru laki-laki dalam mendidik anak. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui profil kompetensi kepribadian dan kompetensi sosial guru PAUD laki-laki di Kabupaten Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengambilan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis tematik. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari tiga guru PAUD laki-laki di Kabupaten Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa profil kompetensi kepribadian guru PAUD laki-laki di Kabupaten Bandung yaitu sudah mampu menghargai keberagaman peserta didik, bersikap sesuai norma yang berlaku, bersikap disiplin dan tegas, mampu menjadi teladan bagi peserta didik dan guru sejawat, mampu mengendalikan diri, berpikiran terbuka, memenuhi kebutuhan emosional anak, terampil dalam mengelola kelas, berkomitmen terhadap profesi, memiliki rasa percaya diri dan kebanggaan terhadap profesi, memiliki pemahaman tentang PAUD, kolaboratif, dan menjungjung kode etik guru. Sedangkan profil kompetensi sosialnya yaitu sudah mampu bersikap inklusif, objektif dan tidak diskriminatif, membangun interaksi positif dengan berkomunikasi yang efektif, empatik dan santun, membangun keterlibatan dengan orang tua/wali peserta didik, mampu beradaptasi, memiliki sensitivitas sosial, dan aktif berorganisasi dalam komunitas seprofesi. Adapun bagi peneliti selanjutnya diharapkan dapat menganalisis lebih lanjut terkait kompetensi guru PAUD laki-laki ini, sehingga stereotip gender dalam masyarakat dapat berkurang setelah mengetahui potensi dan kesesuaian laki-laki yang berprofesi sebagai guru PAUD. This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the lack of male teachers in early childhood units. One of the factors in the lack of male Early Childhood Education teachers is because there are many public perceptions that doubt the ability of male teachers to educate children. The aim of this research is to determine the personality competency profile and social competency of male Early Childhood Education teachers in Bandung Regency. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews and documentation studies. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The research subjects consisted of three male Early Childhood Education teachers in Bandung Regency. The results of the research show that the personality competency profile of male Early Childhood Education teachers in Bandung Regency is that they are able to appreciate the diversity of students, behave in accordance with applicable norms, be disciplined and firm, be able to be role models for students and fellow teachers, be able to control themselves , open-minded, meets children's emotional needs, skilled in managing the classroom, committed to the profession, has self-confidence and pride in the profession, has an understanding of Early Childhood Education, is collaborative, and upholds the teacher's code of ethics. Meanwhile, the social competency profile is that they are able to be inclusive, objective and non-discriminatory, build positive interactions by communicating effectively, empathetically and politely, build involvement with parents/guardians of students, are able to adapt, have social sensitivity, and are active in organizing in professional communities. As for future researchers, it is hoped that they can analyze further the competency of male Early Childhood Education teachers, so that gender stereotypes in society can be reduced after knowing the potential and suitability of men who work as Early Childhood Education teachers.
