Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh terjadinya perubahan hubungan antara anak dengan orang tua yang meliputi, perubahan hubungan, perubahan kedekatan, dan peningkatan konflik saat anak menginjak fase remaja yang berimplikasi terhadap komunikasi interpersonal antarkeduanya. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis komunikasi interpersonal antara anak remaja dan orang tua. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif survey. Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 190 peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 7 Kota Bandung Tahun Pelajaran 2023/ 2024. Instrumen komunikasi interpersonal anak-orang tua dalam keluarga dikembangkan untuk mengukur komunikasi interpersonal anak dan orang tua pada peserta didik. Temuan penelitian menunjukan bahwa komunikasi interpersonal antara anak dan orang tua pada peserta didik mayoritas berada pada kategori komunikasi “efektif” dengan aspek empati dan kesetaraan merupakan aspek yang dominan memberikan kontribusi yang efektif serta aspek keterbukaan, sikap mendukung, dan perilaku positif cenderung tidak/ belum memberikan kontribusi yang efektif. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa masih diperlukan rancangan bimbingan pribadi sosial untuk meningkatkan komunikasi interpersonal anak dengan orang tua yang efektif. Bimbingan pribadi sosial dirancang berdasarjan Panduan Operasional Penyelenggaraan Bimbingan dan Konseling (POP BK) yang telah dilakukan uji konseptual oleh ahli dan praktisi. Penelitian dengan sampel yang lebih besar dan mengeksplorasi berbagai faktor yang mempengaruhi komunikasi interpersonal perlu dilakukan. The research was motivated by the changing relationship between children and parents during adolescence, which includes changes in the relationship, closeness, and increased conflict, all of which have implications for their interpersonal communication. The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of interpersonal communication between adolescent children and parents. The approach used was quantitative with a descriptive survey method. The research participants consist of 190 eighth-grade students at State Junior High School 7 in Bandung for the Academic Year 2023/2024. An instrument for assessing interpersonal communication between children and parents within the family was developed to measure the effectiveness of interpersonal communication among the students. The research findings indicate that the interpersonal communication between children and parents among the students mostly falls into the "effective" category, with the aspects of empathy and equality being the dominant contributing factors, while the aspects of openness, supportiveness, and positiveness tend to not yet contribute effectively. This shows that a personal social guidance design is still needed to improve effective interpersonal communication between children and parents. The personal social guidance is designed based on the Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of Guidance and Counseling (POP BK), which has undergone conceptual testing by experts and practitioners. Further research with a larger sample and exploration of various factors that influence interpersonal communication is needed.
