Abstract

This research is motivated by the need to enhance students' Computational Thinking skills at the vocational high school (SMK) level, specifically in the subject of Network Infrastructure Administration focusing on Firewall materials. These skills are vital for understanding and implementing technical concepts into practice, necessitating an effective method to train and improve these abilities. One method considered effective is Computer Science Unplugged learning, which teaches computer science concepts without directly using computers. The aim of this study is to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the Computer Science Unplugged learning method in improving students' Computational Thinking skills in Firewall topics. The research method employed is quantitative, with a preexperimental One Group Pretest-Posttest design, involving students of class XII TKJ 1 at SMK Negeri 1 Sumedang as the sample. The study results show that: (1) Learning with the Computer Science Unplugged method can improve students' Computational Thinking abilities, with a gain index indicating medium-level effectiveness of 0.54. (2) There is a positive correlation between the application of the Computer Science Unplugged method and the enhancement of Computational Thinking. (3) Students responded positively to this learning method.
