Abstract

Dalam transisi menuju green economy, integrasi isu mengenai SDG’s kedalam pembelajaran penting untuk dilakukan, baik guru maupun calon guru perlu mempersiapkan dan memiliki literasi mengenai keberlanjutan atau sustainability literacy (SL). SL ini diakui sebagai salah satu upaya untuk mencapai tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (SDG) yang merupakan kombinasi dari pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku, yang berkaitan erat dengan SDG dan juga merupakan hasil dari education for sustainable development (ESD). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat SL pada mahasiswa calon guru vokasional program studi Agroteknologi Pengolahan Hasil Pertanian (APHP) serta mengidentifikasi persepsi mahasiswa calon guru vokasional APHP tentang peran SL untuk menciptakan perubahan efektif pada bidang pendidikan dan mengetahui faktor yang mendorong mereka dalam meningkatkan SL. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan campuran yaitu kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan sampel calon guru vokasional APHP yaitu mahasiswa pendidikan teknologi agroindustri di universitas pendidikan indonesia. Dua instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes dan wawancara. Tes digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat SL mahasiswa, sedangkan wawancara digunakan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang persepsi dan faktor yang mendorong mereka untuk meningkatkan SL. Hasil penelitian menunjukan mahasiswa calon guru vokasional APHP memiliki tingkat Sustainability Literacy (SL) yang rendah dalam kategori “sangat buruk”, dengan mayoritas dari mereka kurang memahami konsep keberlanjutan dan keterampilan berkelanjutan. Meskipun menyadari pentingnya SL dalam pendidikan, mereka mengakui keterbatasan pemahaman mereka tentang hal tersebut, beberapa bahkan ingin memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih mendalam sebelum menerapkannya dalam pembelajaran. Faktor-faktor yang mendorong peningkatan SL pada mahasiswa ini meliputi lingkungan akademik, interaksi sosial, serta kesadaran pribadi yang diperoleh dari pengalaman dan kegiatan yang mereka ikuti. In the transition towards a green economy, integrating issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into education is crucial. Both educators and prospective teachers need to prepare for and possess literacy in sustainability, known as Sustainability Literacy (SL). SL is recognized as a key effort in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as it combines knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors closely related to the SDGs and is an outcome of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). This research aims to assess the level of SL among prospective vocational teachers specializing in Agricultural Product Processing Technology (APHP) and to identify their perceptions regarding the role of SL in effecting meaningful changes in education. Furthermore, the study seeks to uncover the driving factors behind their enhancement of SL. Employing a mixed-method approach involving quantitative and qualitative methodologies, the study sampled prospective vocational teachers studying agro-industrial technology education at the University of Education in Indonesia. Two research instruments, namely a test and interviews, were used. The test was employed to measure students' SL levels, while interviews were conducted to gain a deeper understanding of their perceptions and the motivating factors prompting them to improve their SL. The research findings indicate that prospective vocational teachers in APHP possess a low level of Sustainability Literacy (SL) categorized as "very poor," with the majority lacking comprehension of sustainability concepts and sustainable skills. Despite recognizing the importance of SL in education, they acknowledge their limited understanding, with some expressing a desire for a more profound comprehension before implementing it in teaching. Factors driving the enhancement of SL among these students include the academic environment, social interactions, and personal awareness gained from experiences and activities they engage in.
