Abstract

Effect of inhalation of memory abilities of mice in a maze and use the IR and GCMS analysis of the oils of basil (Ocimum americanum), kitchen lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis SP.), And eucalyptus (Melaleuca leucadendra L) which has the main content monoterpenes, and patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) and vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) which has the main content seskuiterpen, has been done. Test the effect of inhalation of essential oils for 30 minutes with a variation of the volume of oil (0.1: 0.3; and 0.5 mL) to the memory of mice in a maze with Maze Learning Test method using the labyrinth as a test device model Langsley, conducted on mice male Swiss Webster. Tests on the maze performed three times with a span of 15 minutes to find out how long the effect of essential oils. The test results demonstrate memory in the maze in groups of basil oil samples which effectively improve memory in mice kel. 0.1 mL in the test of unity (as long as 17.5 minutes), rosemary oil effectively improve memory in mice kel. 0.3 mL for 36.6 minutes (53.05%), and eucalyptus oil effectively improve memory in kel. 0.5 mL for 36.1 minutes (35.21%). GCMS results showed the major components of essential oils such as basil oil contains 35.58% sitral, lemon grass contains citral kitchen 48.93%, rosemary contains a 1.8-sineole 58.12,%, white wood contains 1.8-sineole 27.803%, patchouli oil contains 47.80% alcohol patchouli and vetiver oil contains 10.90% cycloisolongifolene.
