Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore more about the implementation of computer-based teaching model, which is focused on the effect of this model of teaching to the students’ critical thinking ability. This research is an experimental method with pretes-postest design. This teaching model has been implemented to the 11th year students of SMAN 3 Bandung, whereas the topic used in this research is probability. The data were collected by using written test, questionnaire, journal, and interview. The result of the research shows that computer-based teaching model has a positive effect towards students’ critical thinking ability. Furthermore, the gain of the students’ critical thinking ability who participated in computer-based teaching model and the students who participated in expository-based teaching are well qualified. However, those students who participated in computer-based teaching model are better than those who participated in expository-based teaching. Basically, the students’ response towards computer-based teaching model developed in this research is positive. It makes the students not boring.
