Abstract

Pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar masih sangat jarang menggunakan pendekatan inkuiri, dengan kegiatan pembelajaran seperti itu sudah dapat ditebak hasilnya yaitu rendahnya hasil belajar IPA baik dalam tataran aplikasi dan keterampilan proses. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan proses sains dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran yang memungkinkan membantu guru mengaitkan antara materi yang diajarkannya dengan situasi dunia nyata adalah model pembelajaran kontekstual CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen semu dengan desain randomized control group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitiannya adalah kelas V SDN 8 Metro Timur. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui instrumen berupa tes pilihan ganda pada tahap pretest dan posttest serta LKS model CTL dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran CTL memiliki kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan proses sains yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang diterapkan model pembelajaran konvensional. Kata kunci: Model Pembelajaran CTL, Kemampuan Kognitif, dan Keterampilan Proses Sains. Science teaching in primary schools is rarely use the inquiry approach, with today learning activities, easy to predict that the result will be low both at the level of science learning and the scientific process skills. This study was conducted to improve the cognitive abilities and scientific process skills by applying learning model that allows to help teachers associating their teaching material into real world situations on contextual learning model CTL ( Contextual Teaching and Learning ). This study was used a quasi-experimental design with randomized control group pretest-posttest. The research subject was grade 5 stundents in 8 East Metro Primary school. Data were collected through a multiple choice test instrument at pretest and posttest phase and a CTL model worksheets in the learning process. The results showed that in general students who applied learning model CTL model has better cognitive abilities and scientific process skills than the students who applied conventional learning models .
