Abstract

The research is based on the problem "How the application of CORE model in mathematics learning with metacognitive skill approach to logical reasoning ability of students in SMA Madania Bogor at grade 11." The purpose of the research are to know whether the increase in logical reasoning abilitiy of students who are learning mathematics by using CORE model with metacognitive skill approach which is higher than by using direct instructional model and to obtain information about student response to the application of CORE model in mathematics learning with the metacognitive skill approach. The method used in this research is experimental with pre-test up to post-test control group design. The subject of the research are two classes in grade 11 SMA Madania Bogor, the instruments are test logical reasoning ability, questionnaire and observation sheet. Based on the analysis (overall stage of this study), the research concluds that, the increase in logical reasoning ability of students learning mathematics by using the CORE model with metacognitive skill approach is higher than by using direct instructional model and most of the students show positive response to the implementation of CORE model in learning mathematics with metacognitive skill approach.
