Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik tanah berdasarkan laju dan kapasitas infiltrasi air di daerah UPI dan Sariwangi. Daerah UPI dan Sariwangi merupakan daerah yang sebagian besar lahannya telah mengalami perubahan penggunaan tanah pertanian menjadi lahan non-pertanian sehingga dapat mengakibatkan perubahan karakteristik tanah berdasarkan laju dan kapasitas infiltrasi air. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen yaitu pengukuran laju infiltrasi secara langsung di lapangan dan uji sifat fisis tanah berupa tekstur, kerapatan, dan kadar air tanah di Laboratorium Ekologi Jurusan Pendidikan Biologi FPMIPA UPI. Pengukuran laju infiltrasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan infiltrometer cincin ganda. Hasil pengukuran infiltrasi di lahan pertanian menunjukan bahwa daerah UPI mempunyai laju infiltrasi rata-rata sebesar 79,96 cm/jam sampai 89,16 cm/jam dan kapasitas infiltrasi sebesar 23,59 cm/jam sampai 28,18 cm/jam, karakteristik tanah di daerah UPI mempunyai klasifikasi laju infiltrasi yang sangat cepat dengan tekstur tanah berupa lempung berpasir, sedangkan daerah Sariwangi mempunyai laju infiltrasi rata-rata sebesar 12,37 cm/jam sampai 84,69 cm/jam.dan kapasitas infiltrasi sebesar 10,81 cm/jam sampai 30,83 cm/jam, karakteristik tanah di daerah Sariwangi mempunyai klasifikasi laju infiltrasi yang bervariasi mulai dari agak cepat sampai sangat cepat dengan tekstur tanah berupa lempung berdebu dan lempung berpasir. This study investigated soil characteristics based on water infiltration rate and capacity in University of Education, as known as UPI and Sariwangi. Most of the land used in UPI and Sariwangi went into non-farm land which affected the soil characteristics based on water infiltration rate and capacity. This study employed experiment method, which is the data collected by measuring the water infiltration rate by double ring infiltrometer. Then, this study also identifying the soil physic characteristics, in sort of soil texture, density, and water content in ecology laboratoryy of Biology department FPMIPA UPI. The measurement result revealed that the average rates of water infiltration in UPI was 79,96 cm/hr until 89,16 cm/hr and the capacity of infiltration was 23,59 until 28,18. Based on the result, it can be conclude that soil in UPI has very fast infiltration rate which the texture of the land is sandy clay. Whereas, the average rates of water infiltration in Sariwangi was 12,37 cm/hr until 84,69 cm/hr and the capacity of infiltration was 10,81 cm/hr until 30,83 cm/hr. The findings showed that soil characteristics in Sariwangi has variation in infiltration rate started from little fast until very fast by texture of the land is clay dusty and clay sandy.
