Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the Big Five personality types and polychronicity in college students in Bandung Raya. This study involved 398 tertiary students in Bandung Raya with age characteristics of 18-25 years. Respondents filled out the Big Five questionnaire was adapted by Ramdhani (2012), and the Multitasking Preference Inventory (MPI) questionnaire was developed by Poposki & Oswald (2010). The data analysis technique used was the correlation test through the Rank Spearman technique with the help of SPSS version 25. The results showed that the significance value of the conscientiousness personality type was 0.015 (p<0.05), the significance value of the extraversion personality type was 0.000 (p<0.05) ), and the significance value of the neuroticism personality type was 0.000 (p <0.05) which indicated that the conscientiousness, extraversion, and neuroticism personality types were significantly correlated with polychronicity. Meanwhile, the significance value of the openness to experience personality type was 0.081 (p>0.05), and the significance value of the agreeableness personality type was 0.151 (p>0.05) indicating that the openness to experience and agreeableness personality types did not correlate with polychronicity. Based on these results, the concluded that of the five personality types only three personality types namely conscientiousness, extraversion, and neuroticism, have a correlation with the polychronicity variable.
