Abstract

Pemecahan masalah adalah proses berpikir tingkat tinggi dalam memahami masalah, merencanakan penyelesaian, menyelesaikan masalah dan melakukan pengecekan kembali. Penggunaan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dalam pemecahan masalah diukur dari proses pembelajaran yang mengacu pada penyelesaian masalah dan diharapkan dapat membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan, menganalisis perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, dan melihat respon siswa dalam model Problem Based Learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group. Variabel bebas penelitian ini adalah model Problem Based Learning dan variabel terikat kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Subjek penelitian adalah kelas XI IPS 11 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPS 8 kelas kontrol. instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes soal essay dan angket. Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji hipotesis (uji U) dan uji regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa 1) Kemampuan pemecahan masalah di kelas eksperimen antara nilai pretest dan posttest menunjukan perbedaan yang signifikan, persentase indikator tertinggi pada mengevaluasi strategi pemecahan masalah, 2 ) Kemampuan pemecahan masalah kelas kontrol antara nilai pretest dan posttest menunjukan perbedaan namun tidak signifikan, persentase kemampuan pemecahan masalah tertinggi adalah merancang strategi pemecahan masalah, 3) model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning berpengaruh positif dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran discovery learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada mata pelajaran Geografi. Problem solving is a high-level thinking process in understanding problems, planning solutions, solving problems and checking again. The use of problem based learning learning models in solving problems is measured from the process of making problems that refer to problem solving and is expected to help students improve their problem solving skills. This study aims to determine problem-solving abilities before and after treatment, to analyze differences in problem-solving abilities in the experimental class and the control class, and to see student responses in the problem based learning model. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group research design. The independent variable of this research is the problem based learning model and the dependent variable is problem solving ability. The research subjects were class XI IPS 11 as the experimental class and class XI IPS 8 as the control class. The instrument used is in the form of essay questions and questionnaires. Data analysis used normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis test (U test) and simple linear regression test. The results showed that 1) The problem-solving abilities in the experimental class between pretest and posttest values showed a significant difference, the highest percentage of indicators in evaluating problem-solving strategies, 2) The problem-solving abilities of the control class between pretest and posttest scores showed differences but not significant, the percentage the highest problem-solving ability is designing problem-solving strategies, 3) The Problem Based Learning learning model has a positive effect compared to the discovery learning model in improving problem solving abilities in Geography subjects.
