Abstract

Setelah masa pandemi, penggunaan gadget pada kalangan siswa meningkat. Salah satu kegunaan gaget oleh siswa adalah menonton anime. Pada masa ini, jepang membuat anime berjudul Cells at work mengenai fisiologi sel tubuh manusia. Film anime ini banyak dirujuk oleh guru sebagai media pembelajaran. Media pembelajaran dan strategi belajar dapat mempengaruhi beban kognitif dan kemampuan penguasaan konsep siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang beban kognitif dan penguasaan konsep dalam pembelajaran sistem kekebalan tubuh menggunakan film anime Cells at work dan Writing is Thinking. Metode penelitian yaitu quasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest and posttest. Subjek penilitian berjumlah 56 siswa dari dua kelompok yaitu eksperimen dan kontrol. Film anime diberikan pada siswa eksperimen untuk di cermati saat awal pembelajaran. Guru membantu siswa menggali informasi yang didapat dari film anime. Writing is Thinking dilakukan dengan langkah berikut: menceritakan alur film, menuliskan konsep, menjelaskan konsep dengan kata-kata sendiri, mengaplikasikan informasi yang didapat pada suatu permasalahan, mengidentifikasi konsep yang belum diketahui, dan membuat penjelasan agar dipahami orang lain. Instrumen yang digunakan dipenelitian ini yaitu subjective rating scale untuk mengukur beban kognitif dan pilihan ganda beralasan untuk mengukur penguasaan konsep. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran sistem kekebalan tubuh menggunakan film anime Cells at work dan Writing is Thinking dapat mengatasi beban kognitif. Siswa belajar menggunakan film anime Cells at work dan Writing is Thinking dapat menurunkan extraneous cognitive load dan meningkatkan germane cognitive load dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Siswa memiliki ranah penguasaan konsep lebih baik pada ranah C2(memahami), C3 (mengaplikasikan), dan C4 (menganalisis). After the pandemic, the use of gadgets among students has increased. One of the uses of gadgets by students is watching anime. During this time, Japan made an anime called Cells at work about the physiology of human body cells. This anime film is widely referred to by teachers as learning media. Learning media and learning strategies can affect cognitive load and students' concept mastery ability. This study aims to obtain information about cognitive load and concept mastery in learning the immune system using Cells at work and Writing is Thinking anime films. The research method is quasi experiment with pretest and posttest design. The subjects were 56 students from two groups, namely experimental and control. The anime film was given to experimental students to look at at the beginning of learning. The teacher helped students explore the information obtained from the anime film. Writing is Thinking was conducted with the following steps: telling the plot of the film, writing down concepts, explaining concepts in their own words, applying the information obtained to a problem, identifying unknown concepts, and making explanations for others to understand. The instruments used in this research are subjective rating scale to measure cognitive load and reasoned multiple choice to measure concept mastery. The results showed that learning the immune system using Cells at work and Writing is Thinking anime films can overcome cognitive load. Students learning using Cells at work and Writing is Thinking anime films can reduce extraneous cognitive load and increase germane cognitive load compared to the control class. Students have better concept mastery in the C2 (understanding), C3 (applying), and C4 (analysing) domains.
