Abstract

ABSTRAK Di masa usia dini, anak sedang berada pada tahap dimana mereka banyak belajar tentang dirinya dan lingkungannya. Proses belajar anak perlu didukung oleh berbagai upaya, salah satunya dengan membangun kepercayaan diri anak. Kepercayaan diri merupakan sikap yang disertai keyakinan bahwa seseorang bisa mengatasi suatu masalah dengan upayanya sendiri. Salah satu faktor penyebab rendahnya kepercayaan diri anak adalah labelling negatif yang diterimanya dari orang sekitar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dampak labelling negatif terhadap kepercayaan diri anak usia 5 tahun, berjenis kelamin perempuan, berinisial K, melalui kajian secara terperinci terhadap bentuk-bentuk labelling negatif yang diterima subjek K, gambaran kepercayaan diri subjek K, dan dampak labelling negatif terhadap kepercayaan diri subjek K. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan metode studi kasus. Penelitian dilakukan di Lingkungan Cicadas, Kabupaten Pandeglang, Banten. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara dan observasi, sementara teknik analisis data melalui tiga tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk labelling negatif yang diterima anak berupa cemoohan, penghinaan, dan stigma negatif berdampak pada rendahnya kepercayaan diri anak. Labelling negatif berupa cemoohan terutama berpengaruh terhadap cara pandang K terhadap tampilan dirinya, K merasa penampilannya jelek. Labelling negatif berupa penghinaan membuat K rendah diri dan enggan untuk berinteraksi dengan orang lain terutama dengan orang dewasa. Labelling negatif berupa stigma negatif membuat K merasa bahwa dirinya bukan anak yang baik dan merasa tidak disukai orang lain. Rekomendasi penelitian ditujukan pada pihak-pihak yang berkepentingan seperti orangtua, pendidik Anak Usia Dini, dan peneliti selanjutnya. ABSTRACT At an early age, children are at a stage where they learn a lot about themselves and their environment. One way to build a child’s confidence is to build a child’s learning process. Confidence is a confident attitude that a person can overcome a problem by his own efforts. One factor behind a lack of confidence in a child is the negative labelling them may receive from others. The study aims to explain the effect of labelling the negative on the confidence of 5-year-old children, of gender, with the letter K, through a detailed study of the negative labelling forms that the subject K, and the effect of the negative labelling on the subject K. The study uses a qualitative approach, with a method of case study. Studies are conducted in the Cicadas Ward, Pandeglang District, Banten. Data collection techniques of interviews and observations, while data analysis techniques go through the three stages of data reduction, data presentation, and verification. Research has shown that the negative form of labelling that children receive of ridicule, contempt, and negative stigma has affected their lack of confidence. The negative labelling of ridicule has particularly affected the way K views the person, K feels that she is disfigured. The negative labelling humiliation of bullying leaves the subject K to be low and reluctant to interact with people especially with adults. The negative labelling of a negative stigma make K feel like she’s not a good kid and can’t be likable by others.
