Abstract

Pada sekolah menengah pertama, pembelajaran matematika banyak melakukan penerapan teori secara praktis tanpa melakukan penerapan konsep terlebih dahulu. Hal tersebut mengakibatkan concept image yang kurang baik sehingga pada kemampuan pemahaman matematisnya pun kurang baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis concept image siswa dan pemahaman konsep matematisnya pada materi bentuk aljabar. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi hermeneutik. Fokus pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) sebanyak 28 orang. Pengambilan siswa yang diwawancara dilakukan setelah pembagian kelompok dengan melihat hasil ujian semester lalu melakukan pengkategorian jawaban siswa dari hasil tes. Wawancara dilakukan juga kepada guru yang mengajar di kelas tersebut. Berdasarkan analisis tes dan wawancara, siswa berkemampuan matematis tinggi memiliki concept image cukup baik pada indikator pertama dan indikator kedua, sangat baik pada indikator ketiga. Selanjutnya siswa berkemampuan matematis sedang dan siswa berkemampuan matematis rendah memiliki concept image yang kurang baik pada indikator pertama dan indikator kedua sedangkan pada indikator ketiga cukup baik. Namun, terdapat beberapa siswa berkemampuan matematis tinggi masih kurang baik pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematisnya dalam bentuk aljabar serta siswa berkemampuan sedang dan rendahpun masih kurang baik pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematisnya dalam bentuk aljabar sehingga untuk membangun concept image menjadi kemampuan pemahaman konsepnya benar dapat dilakukan dengan memberikan motivasi yang kuat serta pembelajaran yang konstruktivisme dan kooperatif. In junior high schools, learning mathematics does a lot of practical application of theory without applying the concept first. This results in a concept image that is not good enough so the ability to understand mathematics is also not good. The purpose of this research is to analyze the concept of student image and its understanding of mathematical concepts in algebraic material. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a hermeneutic phenomenological approach. The focus of this study was 28 students of class VII Junior High School (SMP). The selection of students who were interviewed was carried out after dividing into groups by looking at the results of the last semester's exam by categorizing student answers from the test results. Interviews were also conducted with teachers who teach in the class. Based on the analysis of tests and interviews, students with high mathematical ability have a fairly good concept image on the first and second indicators, and very well on the third indicator. Furthermore, students with moderate mathematical abilities and students with low mathematical abilities have a concept image that is not good in the first and second indicators while the third indicator is quite good. However, some students with high mathematical abilities are still not good at understanding mathematical concepts in algebraic form and students with moderate and low abilities are still not good at understanding mathematical concepts in algebraic form so that to build a concept image into the ability to understand the concept correctly can be done by giving strong motivation and constructive and cooperative learning
