Abstract

Menulis teks deskripsi merupakan satu kompetensi dasar yang harus dicapai oleh siswa SMP kelas VII. Mengacu pada kondisi di lapangan para siswa masih kerap mengalami kesulitan dalam menulis teks deskripsi. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh faktor internal yang berasal dari dalam diri siswa dan faktor eksternal yang berasal dari luar diri siswa. Tujuan umum dari penelitian ini, yaitu menguji coba model Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan TikTok house tour dalam pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu Quasi Experimental dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Laboratorium Percontohan UPI Bandung. Adapun sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII B sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VII C sebagai kelas kontrol yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan, yaitu teknik tes terdiri dari pretest dan postest, observasi, dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil pretest kedua kelas berada pada kategori “Cukup”, yaitu rata-rata hasil pretest kelas eksperimen 64 dan kelas kontrol memiliki rata-rata nilai 58. Setelah diterapkannya model Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan TikTok house tour rata-rata nilai postest kelas eksperimen adalah 84, sedangkan, rata-rata nilai postest kelas kontrol setelah diterapkan model terlangsung adalah 70. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi <0,000 < 0,05, artinya H_a diterima dan H_0 ditolak. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil menulis teks deskripsi siswa yang mendapat perlakuan penerapan model Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan TikTok house tour dengan siswa yang tidak mendapat perlakuan model Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan TikTok house tour. Writing descriptive text is a basic competency that must be achieved by class VII junior high school students. Referring to the conditions in the field, students still often experience difficulties in writing descriptive texts. This is caused by internal factors that come from within the student and external factors that come from outside the student. The general aims of this study is to test the Learning Cycle 5E model assisted by the TikTok house tour in learning to write descriptive text. The research method used in this research is Quasi Experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The population of this research was class VII students of the UPI Bandung Pilot Laboratory Middle School. The samples in this study were students of class VII B as the experimental class and VII C as the control class which were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used was a test technique consisting of pretest and posttest, observation, and questionnaires. The results showed that the results of the pretest for both classes were in the "Enough" category, that is, the average pretest result for the experimental class was 64 and the control class had an average score of 58. After the implementation of the Learning Cycle 5E model assisted by the TikTok house tour, the average class posttest score the experiment was 84. Meanwhile, the average posttest value for the control class after the last model was applied was 70. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the significance value was <0.000 <0.05, meaning that H_a was accepted and H_0 was rejected. Thus it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the results of writing descriptive texts of students who received the treatment of applying the Learning Cycle 5E model assisted by the TikTok house tour and students who did not receive the treatment of the Learning Cycle 5E model assisted by the TikTok house tour.
