Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gambaran beban kognitif siswa, mendeskripsikan gambaran kemampuan penalaran kreatif matematis siswa, mengidentifikasi kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa saat melakukan penalaran kreatif matematis, dan mendeskripsikan upaya untuk mengembangkan penalaran kreatif siswa pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar berdasarkan beban kognitif. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan desain fenomenologi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada salah satu MTsN di Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 27 orang siswa kelas VIII yang telah mempelajari materi bangun ruang sisi datar. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik tes meliputi tes beban kognitif intrinsic, tes beban kognitif germane, dan tes penalaran kreatif matematis serta teknik non-tes meliputi angket beban kognitif extraneous dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beban kognitif siswa cenderung berada pada kategori sedang. Berdasarkan ketercapaian indikator penalaran kreatif matematis, semakin rendah beban kognitif intrinsic siswa maka semakin baik kemampuan penalaran kreatif matematisnya, semakin rendah beban kognitif extraneous siswa maka semakin baik kemampuan penalaran kreatif matematisnya, dan semakin rendah beban kognitif germane siswa maka semakin baik kemampuan penalaran kreatif matematisnya. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam melakukan penalaran kreatif matematis adalah memahami masalah, memilih dan menerapkan strategi penyelesaian, menentukan solusi, dan memberikan alasan logis terhadap strategi penyelesaian. Upaya secara teoritis untuk mengembangkan penalaran kreatif matematis siswa adalah menyajikan desain pembelajaran berupa teacher-student interaction dan desain tugas berupa open task, worked example dan self-explanation dengan memperhatikan indikator penalaran kreatif matematis siswa dalam pembelajaran. This study aims to describe students' cognitive load, describe students' creative mathematical reasoning ability, identify the difficulties faced by students when doing creative mathematical reasoning, and describe solutions to develop students' creative reasoning on flat and solid geometry based on cognitive load. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological design. This research was conducted at one MTsN in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra Province. The subjects of this study were 27 students of class VIII who had studied the material of flat and solid geometry. Data collection techniques were conducted with test techniques including intrinsic cognitive load test, germane cognitive load test, and mathematical creative reasoning test and non-test techniques including extraneous cognitive load questionnaire and interviews. The results showed that students' cognitive load tended to be moderate. Based on the attainment of creative mathematical reasoning indicators, the lower the intrinsic cognitive load of students, the better their mathematical creative reasoning ability; the lower the extraneous cognitive load of students, the better their mathematical creative reasoning ability; and the lower the germane cognitive load of students, the better their mathematical creative reasoning ability. The difficulties experienced by students in performing creative mathematical reasoning are understanding the problem, selecting and applying a solution strategy, determining the solution, and providing logical reasons for the solution strategy. The theoretical effort to develop students' mathematical creative reasoning is to present a learning design through teacher-student interaction and task design through open tasks, worked examples, and self-explanation by paying attention to indicators of students' mathematical creative reasoning in learning.
