Abstract

Keterampilan membaca permulaan merupakan suatu tahapan proses belajar membaca bagi siswa sekolah dasar yang sangat penting. Membaca merupakan kunci penting dalam proses belajar, kurangnya keterampilan membaca merupakan suatu masalah dalam penelitian ini. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah agar adanya peningkatan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa kelas II SDN Cipanas 2 dengan menerapkan metode LEA (Language Experience Approach) berbantuan media Big Book. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilakukan secara bersiklus, dengan subjek penelitian yang terdiri dari 20 siswa yaitu 7 siswa laki-laki dan 13 siswa perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan observasi, tes tulisan, dan tes lisan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan 2 siklus. Pada siklus I belum mencapai ketuntasan yaitu hanya mencapai 50% dan menjadi peningkatan pada siklus II dengan mencapai ketuntasan 95%. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode LEA (Language Experience Approach) berbantuan media Big Book dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa. ----- Beginning reading skills are a very important stage of the reading learning process for elementary school students. Reading is an important key in the learning process, lack of reading skills is a problem in this study. The purpose of this study is to improve the initial reading skills of grade II students of SDN Cipanas 2 by applying the LEA (Language Experience Approach) method assisted by Big Book media. This type of research is Classroom Action Research which is carried out cyclically, with research subjects consisting of 20 students, namely 7 male students and 13 female students. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, written tests, and oral tests. This study was carried out with 2 cycles. In cycle I has not reached completeness, which only reaches 50% and becomes an increase in cycle II by achieving completeness of 95%. So, it can be concluded that the application of the LEA (Language Experience Approach) method assisted by Big Book media can improve students' initial reading skills.
