Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa dan fakta kurangnya kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui 1) peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang menggunakan model Project-Based Learning dengan siswa yang menggunakan model Direct Instruction, 2) pencapaian kemampuan pemahaman matematis kelas yang menggunakan model Project-Based Learning lebih tinggi kelas yang menggunakan model Direct Instruction. dan 3) respons siswa terhadap proses pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model Project-Based Learning. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X di salah satu SMA Negeri di Kabupaten Cilacap, sedangkan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah dua kelas dari populasi tersebut. Data penelitian diperoleh dari tes kemampuan pemahaman matematis dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang menggunakan model Project-Based Learning lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang menggunakan model Direct Instruction, 2) pencapaian kemampuan pemahaman matematis kelas yang menggunakan model Project-Based Learning lebih tinggi kelas yang menggunakan model Direct Instruction. dan 3) hampir seluruh siswa menunjukkan respons positif terhadap pembelajaran Project-Based Learning. This research is motivated by the importance of students' mathematical comprehension abilities and the fact of their lacking mathematical comprehension skills. The purpose of this study is to determine 1) the improvement of students' mathematical comprehension abilities using the Project-Based Learning model compared to students using the Direct Instruction model, 2) the achievement of mathematical comprehension abilities in the class using the Project-Based Learning model as higher than the class using the Direct Instruction model, and 3) students' response to the mathematics learning process using the Project-Based Learning model. The method employed in this research is quasiexperimental with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study consists of all tenth-grade students in a public high school in Cilacap Regency, while the sample includes two classes from that population. Research data were obtained from mathematical comprehension ability tests and questionnaires. The research results demonstrate that 1) the improvement of students' mathematical comprehension abilities using the Project-Based Learning model is higher compared to students using the Direct Instruction model, 2) the achievement of mathematical comprehension abilities in the class using the Project-Based Learning model is higher than in the class using the Direct Instruction model, and 3) almost all students exhibited a positive response towards Project-Based Learning.
