Abstract

Pengetahuan dan sikap kepedulian mengenai lingkungan harus ditanamkan pada masa anak-anak ketika sekolah dasar. Pengetahuan dan sikap kepedulian terhadap lingkungan tersebut dinamakan Ecoliteracy. Ecoliteracy bertujuan untuk menambah wawasan dan pengetahuan siswa mengenai menjaga dan merawat lingkungan dengan baik serta mengembangkan sifat siswa yang bertanggung jawab dan bijaksana terhadap lingkungan. Namun berdasarkan hasil pengamatan diketahui bahwa ecoliteracy siswa kelas IV pada salah satu Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Purwakarta masih kurang. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut peneliti menggunakan model pembelajaran Sains Teknologi Masyarakat (STM). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan model STM untuk meningkatkan ecoliteracy siswa sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dan desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah Kemmis & Mc. Taggart meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Dari dua siklus yang dilaksanakan oleh peneliti terdapat peningkatan indikator ecoliteracy pada aspek pengetahuan (head), sikap (heart), dan keterampilan (hand). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, pada siklus I aspek pengetahuan (head) mengalami peningkatan sebesar 18% dari siklus I ke siklus II. Pada aspek sikap (heart) menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 6% dari siklus I ke siklus II. Pada aspek keterampilan (hand) menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 10% dari siklus I ke siklus II. Penelitian ini berhenti pada siklus II dikarenakan tujuan perbaikan pembelajaran yang menjadi tujuan penelitian sudah tercapai. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model STM dapat meningkatkan ecoliteracy siswa sekolah dasar. Bagi peneliti berikutnya diharapkan untuk menambah indikator ecoliteracy pada aspek spiritual (spirit) dalam pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan ecoliteracy siswa. ----- Knowledge and attitude of concern for the environment must be instilled in childhood during primary school. Knowledge and attitude of concern for the environment is referred to as environmental literacy. Environmental literacy aims to enhance students' understanding and knowledge of proper environmental maintenance and care, as well as develop responsible and wise characteristics towards the environment. However, based on observations, it is evident that fourth grade students' environmental literacy at one of the State Elementary Schools in Purwakarta is still insufficient. To address these issues, researchers utilized the Science Technology Society (STM) learning model. The objective of this research is to investigate the implementation of the STM model in enhancing environmental literacy among elementary school students. The research method employed is Classroom Action Research (CAR), following the research design proposed by Kemmis & Mc. Taggart, which includes planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Throughout the two cycles conducted by the researchers, there was an improvement in indicators of environmental literacy in terms of knowledge (head), attitude (heart), and skills (hand). According to the research findings, in the first cycle, the knowledge aspect (head) increased by 18% from cycle I to cycle II. The attitude aspect (heart) showed a 6% increase from cycle I to cycle II. The skills aspect (hand) demonstrated a 10% increase from cycle I to cycle II. The research concluded after cycle II, as the objective of improving learning, which was the research goal, had been achieved. The conclusion drawn from this study is that learning using the STM model can enhance environmental literacy among elementary school students. For future researchers, it is recommended to include indicators of environmental literacy related to the spiritual aspect (spirit) in order to further enhance students' ecoliteracy.
