Abstract

Segitiga dan segiempat adalah salah satu materi geometri yang banyak diaplikasikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi learning obstacles siswa, faktor penyebab learning obstacles siswa, serta memberikan solusi untuk mengatasi learning obstacles siswa pada pembelajaran materi segitiga dan segiempat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII pada salah satu Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) di Kabupaten Padang Pariaman, Sumatera Barat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi data melalui observasi pembelajaran, tes, wawancara guru dan siswa, serta studi dokumen. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami learning obstacles pada pembelajaran materi segitiga dan segiempat di antaranya adalah ontogenic obstacle, didactical obstacle, dan epistemological obstacle, yang disebabkan karena siswa tidak memahami materi prasyarat, pembelajaran yang dilakukan tidak menciptakan kegiatan diskusi dan situasi validasi, dan pemahaman siswa terbatas tentang konsep, sifat-sifat segiempat, keliling dan luas daerah segitiga dan segiempat. Berdasarkan learning obstacles yang teridentifikasi dan faktor penyebab learning obstacles, peneliti memberikan solusi untuk mengatasi learning obstacles siswa pada pembelajaran materi segitiga dan segiempat. Kata Kunci: Learning Obstacles, Ontogenic Obstacle, Didactical Obstacle, Epistemological Obstacle, Segitiga dan Segiempat. Triangles and quadrilaterals are geometric materials, that are widely applied in daily life. The purpose of this study were to identify students’ learning obstacles, the factors causing students’ learning obstacles, and give solutions to reduce students’ learning obstacles in learning triangle and quadrilateral material. This study uses a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were VII grade students at one of the junior high schools in Padang Pariaman, West Sumatera. The data were collected by triangulating data through observation, test, interview, and document study. The results of this study indicate that students experience learning obstacles in learning the triangles and quadrilaterals material, including ontogenic obstacle, didactical obstacle, and epistemological obstacle. which are caused because students do not understand the prerequisite material, the learning does not create discussion activities and validation situations, and limitations students in understanding the concept concepts, characteristics of quadrilaterals, perimeter and area of triangles and quadrilaterals. Based on the identified learning obstacles and the factors causing learning obstacles, the researcher give solutions to reduce students' learning obstacles in learning triangle and quadrilateral material.
