Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengungkapkan nilai Demokrasi Adat Minangkabau melalui pembelajaran PKn dalam membangun karakter bangsa; (2) menganalisis faktor-faktor penyebab kemunduran serta kurang dikenalnya budaya dan tradisi sendiri oleh generasi penerus; (3) menanamkan rasa cinta peserta didik terhadap budaya yang dimilikinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode Etnografi, dan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah tokoh adat, pemuka masyarakat, guru PKn dan guru IPS beserta peserta didik kelas VIII (SMPN 7) Padang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, studi dokumentasi, dan kepustakaan. Validasi data menggunakan Triangulasi, Member-chek, Auidit trail, dan Expert Opinion. Analisis data dilakukan melalui interpretasi kualitatif. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa masyarakat Minangkabau mengalami perubahan di segala bidang kehidupan termasuk pandangan masyarakat Minangkabau terhadap nilai budayanya, hal ini disebabkan karena; melemahnya filosofi pandangan hidup masyarakat Minangkabau; tidak berfungsinya kepemimpinan dalam masyarakat Minangkabau; perangkat kelembagaan sosial masyarakat Minangkabau mulai memudar; terjadinya perubahan nilai budaya masyarakat Minangkabau sebagai akibat modernisasi dan globalisasi. Untuk itu diperlukan tranformasi nilai demokrasi adat Minangkabau melalui pembelajaran PKn kepada generasi muda. Implikasi dari penelitian ini akan memberikan dampak positif di kalangan sekolah, khususnya dalam bidang pembelajaran PKn bagi para Guru dan peserta didik. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi salah satu acuan dalam proses pembelajaran dan menjadi ruh di semua jenjang pendidikan di Minangkabau. Generasi muda harus diperkenalkan kepada nilai budaya lokal sebagai bekal kehidupannya kelak. Model pembelajaran berbasis demokrasi Adat Minangkabau melalui PTK sebagai pusat kegiatan belajar, dapat menjadikan guru lebih kreatif dan membangkitkan motivasi belajar peserta didik, dalam upaya membentuk peserta didik yang berkarakter. This Study aims to: (1) reveals the democratic values of Minangkabau tradition through civic education learning in building the nation’s character; (2) analyzes factors that cause its deterioration and lack of understanding on culture and traditions by the young generation; (3) encourage students to have concern on their own culture. This study uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, and Classroom Action Research (CAR). Subjects of this study are traditional leaders, community leaders, teachers, civic and social studies teachers, and their students of 8 th grade (SMP N.7) Padang.The data was collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The data was validated by using triangulation, member-chek, audit trail, and expert opinion. Analysis of data is performed by means of qualitative interpretation This study concludes that Minangkabau people suffer alterations in all of their way of life, including people’s views on the value of Minangkabau culture. This is caused by the deterioration of philosophy of viewpoint on life of Minangkabau people; the malfunction of leadership among Minangkabau people; the Minangkabau social institutions began to fade; the alteration of the culture of Minangkabau people as a result of modernization and globalization it needs the transformation of traditional democratic values of Minangkabau through the learning of Civic Education for young people. The implications of this research provide positive impacts for schools, especially in the field of civic education learning for teachers and students. The result of this study can be a reference in the learning process and become a new spirit in all areas of education in Minangkabau. The young generation must comprehend the local culture as a basis for their later life. Model of learning based on traditional democracy of Minangkabau through PTK as a center of learning can make teachers more creative and the able to motivate their students, as an effort to establish the character of students.
