Abstract

Skripsi ini berjudul “Pengaruh Komunikasi Hiperpersonal Terhadap Pemeliharaan Hubungan Jarak Jauh pada Mahasiswa Di Kota Bandung”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui berbagai bentuk komunikasi hiperpersonal yang digunakan oleh para pasangan hubungan jarak jauh dalam menjalani hubungannya serta melihat pengaruh dari komunikasi hiperpersonal terhadap pemeliharaan sebuah hubungan jarak jauh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif yang bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh dari komunikasi hiperpersonal terhadap pemeliharaan hubungan jarak jauh. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan angket dan wawancara terstruktur. Teknik pengambilan data pada penelitian ini dengan cara online dan menggunakan metode random sampling, jumlah sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu sebanyak 100 responden dengan syarat wajib sedang menjalankan hubungan jarak jauh. Pada pembahasaannya dilakukan analisis data yang telah di peroleh dengan bantuan software SPSS 2.0 serta memasukan beberapa hasil wawancara dari para responden yang dipilih secara acak dan juga memasukan pendapat atau definisi dari para ahli yang mendukung hasil penelitian tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa bentuk komunikasi yang digunakan responden dalam melakukan pemeliharaan hubungan jarak jauh adalah instan messaging dan sosial media. Sedangkan untuk hasil penelitian terhadap pengaruh komunikasi hiperpersonal terhadap beberapa sub variabel pemeliharaan hubungan yaitu daya tarik (attraction), pertukaran sosial (social exchange), dan kesetaraan nilai (equity) menunjukan adanya beberapa hasil yang sedikit berbeda satu sama lain, diantaranya pengaruh komunikasi hiperpersonal dengan daya tarik memiliki pengaruh yang sangat signifikan dan positif, begitu juga terhadap kesetaraan nilai meskipun tidak se signifikan daya tarik, sedangkan untuk pengaruh nya terhadap social exchange menunjukan tidak ada pengaruh serta bersifat negatif. Keseluruhan pengaruh antar komunikasi hiperpersonal terhadap pemeliharaan hubungan memiliki pengaruh secara signifikan dan positif. Kesimpulannya bahwa bentuk komunikasi hiperpersonal yang dilakukan oleh para pasangan jarak jauh bersifat umum seperti masyarakat kebanyakan, dan untuk komunikasi hiperpersonal terhadap pemeliharaan hubungan jarak jauh memang menunjukan adanya pengaruh serta bersifat positif.---; This research paper entitled “The Influences of Hyper-personal Communication Toward the Long Distance Relationship Maintenance of University Students in Bandung”. The purposes of this study were to determine the various forms of hyper-personal communications used by couples of long-distance relationship in doing the relationships and seeing the impact of hyper-personal communications to the maintenance of their long-distance relationship. This study used the correlation method with quantitative approach that aimed to see the effects of hyper-personal communication toward the maintenance of long-distance relationship. The data collection techniques in this research were using questionnaires and structured interviews. The data collection techniques in this study were done by online questionnaires and using the random sampling method, the number of samples in this study was 100 respondents that were surely running a long distance relationship. In the discussion done, the data analysis which was obtained by SPSS 2.0 and included some interviews of the respondents that were selected randomly and also included the opinion or definition of the experts who supported the research. The results showed that the form of communications used by the respondents to maintain their long distance relationships were through an instant messaging and social media. Meanwhile the results of a study of the effect of hyper-personal communication on several sub-variables maintenance of relationships which were appeal (attraction), social exchange, and the equity value showed some different results, one of them was the effect of communication hyper-personal with attraction has the very significant and positive influence, as well as to equity value although it was not as significant as attraction, while its influence on the social exchange showed no effect and seemed negative. Overall influences of hyper-personal communication toward the maintenance of relationships have significant and positive influences. In conclusion, there are the influences of hyper-personal communication toward the maintenance of the relationships which are showed by the data gained
