Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe the learning cell lebih baik daripada siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran tradisional dan untuk mengetahui sikap siswa terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe the learning cell dalam pembelajaran matematika. Metode di dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen yang terdiri dari dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol dengan populasi di penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 16 Bandung, sementara sampel yang dipilih secara acak, yaitu kelas VIII-4 sebagai kelas kontrol, kelas VIII-6 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain kelompok kontrol pretes-postes. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah instrumen tes berupa tes kemampuan komunikasi (pretes dan postes) dan instrumen non-tes, yaitu angket skala sikap model Likert dan lembar observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa. Materi yang menjadi pokok bahasan adalah lingkaran. Hasil yang diperoleh setelah melakukan penelitian adalah peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe the learning cell lebih baik daripada siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran tradisional dan siswa menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe the learning cell dalam pembelajaran matematika. The purpose of this research is to knowing the increasing of mathematical communicating ability of students who learn with the learning cell type of cooperative learning and to knowing the student’s attitudes who learn mathematics with the learning cell type of cooperative learning. Method in this research is experimental method, which is consist of two groups, they are the experimental group and control group, the population of this research is all students in VIII grade at SMP Negeri 16 Bandung, meanwhile after the samples are selected randomly, VIII-4 as the control class and VIII-6 as the experimental class. The design of this research is pretest-posttest group control design. The instruments that used on this research are test instrument that is communicating ability test (pretest and posttest) and non-test instrument that is questionnaire skala sikap with Likert model and observation sheet for teacher and students activity. The subject which is discussed is circle. The result of this research are the increasing of mathematical communicating ability of students who learn with the learning cell type of cooperative learning is much better than the students who learn with traditional learning and students show a positive response to the learn mathematics with the learning cell type of cooperative learning.
