Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh gambaran mengenai peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP dalam pembelajaran fisika melalui penerapan pendekatan brain based learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode pre-experiment dengan desain penelitian one group pretest-posttest design. Sampel penelitiannya adalah siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP negeri kota Bandung. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melakukan observasi keterlaksanaan pendekatan brain based learning, tes keterampilan berpikir kritis, jurnal harian dan angket. Indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis yang diukur yaitu analisis argumen, menanyakan dan menjawab klarifikasi pertanyaan yang menantang, membuat keputusan dan mempertimbangkan keputusan, serta menilai kredibilitas sumber. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan adanya peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa yang ditunjukan dengan nilai N-gain sebesar 0.42 yang menunjukan kategori sedang. Dari hasil N-gain tersebut dapat terlihat bahwa melalui pendekatan brain based learning dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Pembelajaran yang telah dilaksanakan pun mendapat respon positif dari sebagian besar siswa. Kata kunci : Brain Based Learning dan Berpikir Kritis Application of Brain Based Leraning Approach to learning Physics for Improving Junior High School Student’ Critical Thinking Skills The purpose of this study was to overview of critical thinking skills improvement at the junior high school students in learning physics through the application of brain-based learning approach. The method used is pre-experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design. A sample of research is eighth grade students of one of junior high schools in Bandung. Data was collected through observation of the implementation brain-based learning approach, tests of critical thinking skills, daily journals and questionnaires. Indicators of critical thinking skills are analysing of the arguments, asking and answering challenging questions, making and considering decisions, and assessing the credibility of the source. These results indicate an improvement in students' critical thinking skills shown by the value of the gain by 0.42 and showed the moderate category. From the results of the N-gain can be seen that the brain-based learning approach can improve critical thinking skills. Learning which have been implemented also received a positive response from most students. Keywords: Brain Based Learning and Critical Thinking
