Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi karena permasalahan siswa terhadap penguasaan kemampuan dalam pemecahan masalah. Hal ini didasarkan pada hasil observasi awal yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada materi perkalian dan pembagian masih rendah. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya siswa mengalami kendala dalam memahami soal dan menentukan bagaimana cara untuk menyelesaikan tugas yang diberikan. Selain itu, penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang kurang tepat dapat berpengaruh terhadap hasil yang ingin dicapai. Pemilihan metode pembelajaran yang tepat merupakan salah satu hal utama dalam proses pembelajaran dalam mencapai tujuan yang diharapkan. Untuk menjawab hal tersebut, maka dilakukan penelitian tindakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan menerapkan metode inkuiri terbimbing. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan metode inkuiri terbimbing dan mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa setelah diterapkan metode inkuiri terbimbing pada materi perkalian dan pembagian pecahan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang diadaptasi dari model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan dalam beberapa tahapan. Setiap tahapan terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar soal berupa tes, lembar observasi dan catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu, nilai rata-rata kelas pada siklus I sebesar 71. Pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 81. Dari data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada materi perkalian dan pembagian pecahan meningkat setelah diterapkan metode inkuiri terbimbing pada proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, metode inkuiri terbimbing dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, disarankan kepada para guru khususnya guru matematika untuk menerapkan metode inkuiri terbimbing yang mampu meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Kata kunci: metode inkuiri terbimbing, kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. This research is motivated because of the problems students towards mastery of skills in problem solving. It is based on the results of preliminary observations indicate that students' mathematical problem solving ability in material multiplication and division are still low. It is caused by several factors, including students having problems in understanding the problem and determine how to complete a given task. In addition, the use of appropriate learning methods that are less able to influence the results to be achieved.Selection of appropriate learning methods is one of the main things in the learning process to achieve the expected goals. To answer this, the action research to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities by applying the method of guided inquiry. The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of learning math by using guided inquiry and describe students' problem solving abilities increase after application of guided inquiry method in fraction multiplication and division material. This research is a classroom action research which adapted from Kemmis and Mc Taggart models. Therefore, this research was conducted in several cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting stage. This research was conducted in two cycles. The instrument used was a test booklet, observation and field notes. This research found that students’ mathematical problem solving is increasing, in which the average score of the first cycle is 71 and the average score of the second cycle is 81. From these data indicate that students' mathematical problem solving ability in fraction multiplication and division material increased after application of guided inquiry method in the learning process. Therefore, guided inquiry method can improve students' mathematical problem solving ability. According to the findings, teachers are suggested especially math teachers to apply guided-inquiry method which can improve students’ mathematical problem solving.
