Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur seberapa besar pengaruh prestise sosial selebriti calon legislatif terhadap preferensi politik generasi Z di Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perubahan dinamika politik modern yang semakin dipengaruhi oleh aspek budaya populer, termasuk popularitas dan pengaruh selebriti. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teori identifikasi George Mead dan Erik Erikson sebagai dasar teoritis dalam mengkaji hubungan antara prestise sosial selebriti dan preferensi politik generasi Z. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan menggunakan metode survei dalam pengumpulan data dengan menyebar kuesioner. Data populasi diperoleh dari BPS Kota Bandung dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis regresi linear sederhana untuk menguji hubungan antara variabel independen (prestise sosial selebriti) dan variabel dependen (preferensi politik generasi Z). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang tergolong sanga tinggi antara prestise sosial selebriti calon legislatif dengan preferensi politik generasi Z di Kota Bandung. Temuan penelitian diharapkan memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana pengaruh selebriti dalam politik dapat memengaruhi preferensi politik generasi Z dan kontribusinya terhadap pemahaman mengenai partisipasi politik di kalangan muda. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam konteks pemilihan umum dan politik generasi Z di Kota Bandung This study aims to measure the extent of the influence of celebrity social prestige as legislative candidates on the political preferences of Generation Z in Bandung City. The research is motivated by the shifting dynamics of modern politics that are increasingly influenced by popular culture aspects, including the popularity and influence of celebrities. This study employs the Identification Theory by George Mead and Erik Erikson as its theoretical foundation in examining the relationship between celebrity social prestige and the political preferences of Generation Z. The research utilizes a quantitative approach and employs a survey method for data collection by distributing questionnaires. Population data is sourced from the Bandung City Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) using random sampling techniques. The research findings are analyzed using simple linear regression analysis to assess the relationship between the independent variable (celebrity social prestige) and the dependent variable (political preferences of Generation Z). The study's outcomes reveal a highly significant correlation between the social prestige of celebrity legislative candidates and the political preferences of Generation Z in Bandung City. The research findings are expected to provide insights into how celebrity influence in politics can impact the political preferences of Generation Z, contributing to a better understanding of youth political participation. The conclusions drawn from this research are envisioned to provide significant contributions to the context of general elections and the politics of Generation Z in Bandung City.
