Abstract
Anak tunagrahita merupakan anak yang memiliki hambatan yang baik dalam kemampuan akademik maupun perilaku adaptif. Sama seperti anak yang memasuki usia remaja pada umumnya, anak tunagrahita sedang juga mangalami pubertas. Anak tunagrahita sedang perempuan yang sudah pubertas, akan mengalami menstruasi. Hambatan yang dimiliki anak tunagrahita sedang berdampak pada kemampuannya dalam merawat diri ketika menstruasi, salah satunya keterampilan penatalaksanaan sanitary pad. Anak tunagrahita sedang membutuhkan bantuan orang sekitarnya untuk memasang, melepas, atau membersihkan sanitary pad. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan teknik forward chaining terhadap keterampilan penatalaksanaan sanitary pad bagi anak tunagrahita sedang. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah seorang siswa kelas X SMALB berinisial J yang mengalami kesulitan dan masih membutuhkan bantuan dalam menggunakan sanitary pad ketika menstruasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen tunggal atau Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain A-B-A. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes kinerja berdasarkan instrumen tes yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistika deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh positif dari penggunaan teknik forward chaining terhadap keterampilan penatalaksanaan sanitary pad. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya kenaikan rata-rata kemampuan subjekpada setiap kondisi yaitu kondisi baseline-1, kondisi intervensi, dan kondisi baseline-2. Penggunaan forward chaining dapat meningkatkan keterampilan penatalaksanaan sanitary pad pada anak tunagrahita sedang. Children with intellectual disability are children who have significant obstacles both in academic ability and adaptive behavior. Just like children entering their teenage years in general, children with intellectual disability are also going through puberty. Teenage girl with intellectual disability who have reached puberty, will experience menstruation. Barriers that children with intellectual disability have are affecting their ability to take care of themselves during menstruation, one of which is sanitary pad management skills. Children with intellectual disability need help from those around them to install, remove or clean sanitary pads. This research was conducted to determine the effect of using the forward chaining technique on the sanitary pad management skills for children with moderate intellectual disability. The subject of this study was a class X SMALB student with the initials J who had difficulty and still needed assistance in using sanitary pads during menstruation. The research method used is a single experimental method or Single Subject Research (SSR) with an A-B-A design. Data collection was carried out through performance tests based on test instruments which were then analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that there was a positive effect from the use of the forward chaining technique on the sanitary pad management skills. This is evidenced by the increase in the average ability of the subjects in each condition, namely the baseline-1 condition, the intervention condition, and the baseline-2 condition. The use of forward chaining can improve the skills of managing sanitary pads in children with moderate intellectual disability.
