Abstract
Abstrak Isu bullying memang sudah menjadi permasalahan serius dalam dunia pendidikan. Namun sayangnya dalam menangani kasus bullying pihak sekolah biasanya lebih berfokus pada pemberian sanksi bukan pada upaya pencegahan perilaku bullying. Pencegahan perilaku bullying dapat dilakukan dengan mengoptimalkan peran bystander yang berperilaku active defending. Tujuan umum penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh perilaku active defending pada bystander terhadap pencegahan bullying di kalangan siswa SMA Kota Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner yang disebarkan secara online melalui google form. Adapun populasi penelitian adalah siswa/i aktif SMA Kota Medan yang berjumlah 70.837 siswa dengan sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 270 siswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah statistik inferensial jenis non parametrik dan dilengkapi dengan analisis data deskriptif. Temuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu (1) Tingkat perilaku active defending pada bystander di kalangan siswa SMA Kota Medan termasuk dalam kategori sedang dengan persentase sebesar 80.4%. (2) Tingkat perilaku bullying di kalangan siswa SMA Kota Medan termasuk dalam kategori rendah dengan persentase sebesar 59.6%. (3) Terdapat pengaruh perilaku active defending pada bystander terhadap pencegahan bullying pada siswa SMA Kota Medan sebesar 28,4% dengan tingkat kekuatan korelasi berada pada kategori hubungan cukup kuat yang bernilai positif (+). Dalam penelitian ini H₁ diterima dan H₀ ditolak, artinya semakin banyak bystander yang menjadi pelaku active defending maka persentase untuk mencegah terjadinya bullying pada siswa SMA Kota Medan akan meningkat. Abstract The issue of bullying has become a serious problem in the world of education. But unfortunately in dealing with cases of bullying the school usually focuses more on imposing sanctions not on efforts to prevent bullying behavior. Prevention of bullying behavior can be done by optimizing the role of bystanders who behave actively defending. The general objective of this study was to determine the effect of active defending behavior on bystanders on bullying prevention among high school students in Medan City. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire that is distributed online via the google form. The study population was active students of Medan City High School, totaling 70,837 students with a sample of 270 students. The data analysis technique used is non-parametric inferential statistics and is equipped with descriptive data analysis. The findings in this study are (1) The level of active defending behavior in bystanders among Medan City High School students is included in the moderate category with a percentage of 80.4%. (2) The level of bullying behavior among high school students in Medan City is included in the low category with a percentage of 59.6%. (3) There is an effect of active defending behavior on bystanders on bullying prevention in Medan City High School students of 28.4% with the level of correlation strength being in the category of a fairly strong relationship with a positive value (+). In this study H₁ was accepted and H₀ was rejected, meaning that the more bystanders who became active defending actors, the percentage to prevent bullying among Medan City High School students would increase.
