Abstract

The research paper is entitled "The Translation Analysis of Dialogues in the Comic of "The Seven Crystal Balls" and "Tujuh Bola. Ajaib". In this study, the researcher focused on the dialogues that were written in both versions. This researeh was conducted based on descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The aims of this study were to investigate the translation methods that the translator used to translate "The Seven Crystal Balls"; to analyze which translation method was mostly applied by the translator; and to interpret which translation method was most appropriate to translate the comic. The analysis of the translation methods was based on the theory proposed by Newmark (1988). If there were dialogues that were not included into the theory of translation method by Newmark (1988), it would be categorized as the omission method. Based on the result, the translator applied the whole methods that were proposed by Newmark (1988), which are: word for word translation; literal translation; faithful translation; semantic translation; free transiation; idiomatic translation; and communicatiw translation method. There were also untranslated dialogues which were categorized as the omission method. After the analysis, the most frequently used method was the communieative translation method. It was applied in 477 out of 727 dialogues in the comic.
