Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan peningkatan keterampilan proses sains dan sikap ilmiah siswa setelah implementasi kegiatan home-based experiment pada materi fotosintesis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu SMP Negeri di Garut dengan jumlah sampel kelas eksperimen sebanyak 26 siswa dan kelas kontrol 25 siswa. Desain penelitian adalah tipe Pre-Posttest Control Group Design. Teknik pemilihan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik convenience sampling. Hasil post-test menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan proses sains dan sikap ilmiah siswa pada kelas eksperimen tidak berbeda signifikan dengan kelas kontrol. Namun, rata-rata pada nilai posttest dan rata-rata N-gain pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada rata-rata posttest dan N-gain pada kelas kontrol. Kurang maksimalnya capaian hasil belajar pada penerapan home-based experiment disebabkan oleh beberapa kelemahan yaitu alat dan bahan yang tidak sebaik dalam praktikum di laboratorium. Selanjutnya, berdasarkan respon tanggapan siswa terhadap proses pembelajaran, maka pembelajaran dengan home-based experiment dapat mendukung siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kerjasama serta kemampuan belajar mandiri serta juga akan meningkatkan antusiasme siswa dalam belajar. Selanjutnya home-based experiment juga sangat mendukung siswa untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran Keterampilan Proses Sains dan Sikap Ilmiah Siswa. Kata Kunci : Fotosintesis, Home-Based Experiment, Keterampilan Proses Sains, Sikap Ilmiah This study aims to discover the improvement of students' science process skills and students' science attitudes after the implementation of home-based experiment activities on photosynthesis. This research was carried out at one of the State Junior High Schools in Garut with a total sample of the experimental group of 26 students and the control group of 25 students. The research design was a type of Pre-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample selection technique in this study used the convenience sampling technique. The post-test analysis showed that the science process skills and scientific attitudes of the students in the experimental group didn’t significant to the control group. However, the average post-test value and the average N-gain in the experimental group are higher than the average post-test and N-gain in the control group. The lack of maximum achievement of learning outcomes in the application of home-based experiment is caused by several disadvantages including the use of tools and materials that ware not as good as in practicum in the laboratory. Based the students' responses to the learning process that the learning can support students to improve cooperation abilities and independent learning abilities and also increase student enthusiasm for learning.
