Abstract

The aim of this research is to obtain information on how the saprahan values for conflict resolution strengthen unity and integrity. This research uses an ethnographic approach. Sources of informants were selected purposively from several groups according to their expertise. The results of the research are as follows: (1) The Pontianak Malay community has a good and equal understanding of the Saprahan tradition which is found as local wisdom. The Pontianak Malay community believes that the Saprahan tradition as local wisdom in the Pontianak Malay community can be used as an effort or as a medium for mediation or conflict resolution in the Pontianak Malay community; (2) As local wisdom of the Pontianak Malay community, the Saprahan tradition has unique values or the specificity of the Saprahan tradition such as family values, social values, moral values, values of unity and integrity. So that the values of the saprahan tradition can be synergized with the values of Pancasila which were developed in the dimension of civic civility through the saprahan tradition; (3) Efforts to transform the value of Pontianak Malay local wisdom from generation to generation are carried out informally through the inheritance of the values of the Saprahan tradition with the socialization of the values contained in the Saprahan which are then socialized through activities in the form of the Saprahan Festival which is carried out by the Pontianak City Government in this case. Department of Education and Culture. together with the Malay Cultural Customary Council (MABM) of Pontianak City and Malay community organizations and educational institutions in the city of Pontianak; (4) The Pontianak Malay community assumes and believes that the values in the saprahan tradition are useful in resolving social conflicts. We can see that the saprahan tradition is useful as a medium for resolving conflicts and the saprahan tradition is not only a ceremony for eating together but can also be used as an alternative for resolving conflicts in society. Then the process of implementing this Saprahan is the easiest process because it does not take long; (5) In the view of the Pontianak Malay community that harmony and harmony go well despite having different beliefs and mutual respect, they still maintain the harmony of social life.
