Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran model mental siswa pada submateri hukum laju reaksi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa Tes Diagnostik Model Mental Interview About Event (TDM-IAE). Subjek penelitian ini adalah tujuh orang siswa kelas XII MIPA di salah satu SMA Swasta di Kota Bandung dengan tiga tingkat kemampuan akademik berbeda, yaitu dua siswa kemampuan tinggi, tiga siswa kemampuan sedang, dan dua siswa kemampuan rendah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa siswa kemampuan tinggi, sedang dan rendah menjawab benar sebagian dengan pertanyaan probing dalam menentukan hukum laju reaksi berdasarkan fenomena. Siswa kemampuan tinggi, sedang dan rendah mengalami miskonsepsi terkait penentuan hukum laju reaksi berdasarkan fenomena, yaitu bahwa penentuan hukum laju reaksi dapat ditentukan dari stoikiometri reaksi. Ditemukan pula miskonsepsi dalam menentukan orde reaksi masing-masing reaktan, bahwa penentuan orde reaksi dapat ditentukan dari koefisien reaktan. Selanjutnya, siswa kemampuan tinggi dan sedang menjawab benar dalam menggambarkan grafik orde reaksi masing-masing reaktan, sedangkan siswa kemampuan rendah menjawab salah meskipun diberi pertanyaan probing. Kemudian siswa kemampuan tinggi, sedang dan rendah dapat menentukan tetapan laju reaksi dengan benar setelah diberi pertanyaan probing, namun hanya siswa kemampuan tinggi dan sedang yang menjawab benar dalam menghubungkan tetapan laju reaksi dengan suhu. This study aims to obtain an overview of students' mental models in the submaterial of the law of reaction rates. The method used is a descriptive method using a research instrument in the form of a Diagnostic Test of the Mental Interview About Event Model (TDM-IAE). The subjects of this study were seven students of class XII MIPA at a private high school in Bandung with three different levels of academic ability, namely two high ability students, three medium ability students, and two low ability students. Based on the results of the study, it was found that students with high, medium and low abilities answered partially correctly with probing questions in determining the rate law of reactions based on phenomena. High, medium and low ability students have misconceptions regarding the determination of the rate law of a reaction based on a phenomenon, namely that the determination of the rate law of a reaction can be determined from the stoichiometry of the reaction. There is also a misconception in determining the reaction order of each reactant, that the determination of the reaction order can be determined from the reactant coefficients. Furthermore, high and medium ability students answered correctly in describing the graph of the reaction order of each reactant, while low ability students answered incorrectly even though they were given probing questions. Then the high, medium and low ability students were able to correctly determine the reaction rate constant after being asked a probing question, but only high and medium ability students answered correctly in relating the reaction rate constant to temperature.
