Abstract

Hasil studi pendahuluan menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran menulis di sekolah belum optimal, menantang, dan bermakna bagi tumbuhnya keterampilan menulis yang diharapkan, baik secara kualitas maupun kuantitas. Strategi yang digunakan guru belum sesuai dengan kebutuhan pelatihan menulis bagi peserta didik. Peserta didik kesulitan menulis karena keringnya ide dan tiadanya bahan/informasi faktual, konseptual, atau prosedural dalam wawasan berpikirnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menemukan strategi yang cocok untuk mengatasi masalah pembelajaran menulis tersebut. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah metode eksperimen kuasi the matching-only pretest-posttest control group design terhadap peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Bandung. Sampel penelitian dua kelas dengan masing-masing kelas sebanyak 32 peserta didik (64 orang). Data dikumpulkan melalui tes menulis karangan, lembar observasi pelaksanaan pembelajaran, wawancara, dan angket respon peserta didik untuk memperoleh data proses pembelajaran menulis teks ilmiah populer. Strategi pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah curiosity based learning. Setelah dilakukan analisis data, diperoleh hasil rata-rata nilai pda pascates kelas eksperimen meningkat cukup besar, yaitu dari nilai rata-rata prates 41,78 meningkat pada pascates menjadi 71,41. Selanjutnya data ini diuji compare means paired sample test dan diperoleh thitung (12,396) > t tabel (1,696) dan df (n-1 = 31) dengan interval kepercayaan 95% atau nilai Sig (0,000) < α (0,050) maka menolak Ho dan menerima Ha. Artinya, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan awal menulis teks ilmiah populer dari kelas eksperimen sebelum diberi tindakan dengan kemampuan setelah dilakukan tindakan. Selanjutnya, selisih rata-rata kedua kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol dihitung efektivitasnya dengan Independent Sample Test dan diperoleh angka thitung ( 7,342) > ttabel (1,696) df (n-2=62) atau nilai Sig (0,000) < α (0,05) dengan interval 95%. Ini berarti penerapan strategi curiosity based learning sangat efektif. Setelah mengetahui hasil analisis data bahwa penerapan strategi curiosity based learning sangat efektif meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks ilmiah populer, maka sebaiknya dalam pembelajaran menulis menggunakan strategi curiosity based learning. Strategi ini juga sangat sesuai dengan standar proses pembelajaran menurut Permendikbud No. 65 Tahun 2013, pembelajaran berbasis projek/penemuan. Based on the results of preliminary studies show that learning to write in school is unoptimal, unchalleng , and unmeaning to the expected growth of writing skills , both in quality and quantity . Strategies that teachers use not in accordance with the training needs of writing for students . Learners have difficulty writing ideas dryness and lack of material / information factual , conceptual , procedural knowledge or thinking . This study aims at finding suitable strategies to address the problem of learning to write . The method used to solve the problem is the method of quasi-experimental matching -only pretest - posttest control group against class VII student of SMP Negeri 3 Bandung . The research sample of two classes with each class by 32 students ( 64 people ) . Data collected through the essay writing test , observation sheets learning implementation , interviews , and questionnaire responses of learners to acquire the learning process data writing popular science texts . Learning strategy used was based learning curiosity . After the data of the obtained results anlisis the average post-test score pda experimental classes increased substantially , from an average value of 41.78 pre-test post-test be increased to 71.41 . Furthermore, the data is tested compare means of paired sample test and obtained t ( 12.396 ) > t table ( 1.696 ) and df ( n - 1 = 31 ) with 95% confidence intervals or the Sig ( 0,000 ) < α ( 0.050 ) then reject Ho and accept Ha . This means that there are significant differences between initial ability to write popular scientific text from the experimental class before being given the ability to act after the act . Furthermore, the average difference both experimental and control groups was calculated by the Independent Sample Test effectiveness and obtained the numbers of t ( 7.342 ) > t table ( 1.696 ) df ( n - 1 = 31 ) or the Sig ( 0,000 ) < α ( 0.05 ) with interval of 95 % . This means the application of curiosity -based learning strategy is very effective . After knowing the results of the analysis of data that the application of curiosity -based learning strategies very effective in improving the ability of writing popular science text , it should be in learning to write using curiosity -based learning strategies . This strategy is also fully compatible with standard learning process according to No. Permendikbud . 65 In 2013 , project -based learning / discovery .
