Abstract

Timbulan dan komposisi sampah yang dihasilkan dari suatu wilayah sangat ditentukan oleh seluruh aktivitas masyarakat di wilayah tersebut. Aktivitas manusia yang semakin meningkat dan beragam memicu kuantitas dan kualitas sampah yang dihasilkan. Sampah tersebut dominan bersumber dari sampah rumah tangga. Sampah tersebut pada umumnya belum terkelola secara optimal di Kecamatan Cimalaka, padahal potensi dari pengelolaan sampah tersebut sangat luas apalagi sampah organik yang jarang dikelola. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur besaran dan sebaran timbulan sampah rumah tangga, menganalisis komposisi sampah rumah tangga dan menganalisis besaran dan sebaran timbulan sampah rumah tangga yang dihasilkan oleh masyarakat di Kecamatan Cimalaka, Kabupaten Sumedang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode campuran, yaitu metode kuantitatif dan survei. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa timbulan sampah di Kecamatan Cimalaka memiliki berat 0,38 kg/jiwa/hari, sedangkan komposisi sampah terdiri dari sisa makanan; kertas; kaca/keramik; logam; plastik; kulit/karet dan kayu; tekstil; dan lain-lain. Potensi besaran sampah organik rumah tangga untuk kemudian dikembangkan menjadi kompos sebesar 104.047 kg/bulan, yang tersebar di Desa Cimuja 4%, Desa Cibeureum Wetan 7%, Desa Cibeureum Kulon 7%, Desa Mandalaherang 10%, Desa Cimalaka 8%, Desa Serang 4%, Desa Galudra 5%, Desa Cikole 5%, Desa Trunamanggala 10%, Desa Nyalindurng 7%, Desa Naluk 7%, Desa Citimun 8%, Desa Licin 14% dan Desa Padasari 4%. Pengelolaan sampah organik untuk pengembangan komposting dapat berjalan optimal apabila menerapkan pola pemberdayaan berbasis masyarakat yang difasilitasi oleh Pemerintah, karena antusias dari masyarakat sudah tinggi. Kata Kunci : Timbulan, Komposisi, Sampah Organik, Komposting The generation and composition of waste produced in a certain region are determined highly by the entire activities of the people living within the region. These activities of the people are progressively increased and varied which causes the quantity and quality of the waste produced. The wastes are dominantly sourced from household wastes. These wastes are usually not managed optimally in the District of Cimalaka, even though there are very broad potential in managing these wastes especially those organic wastes which are rarely managed. This research aims to measure the amount and distribution of household wastes, to analyze the composition of household wastes and to analyze the amount and distribution of household wastes which are produced by the people of District of Cimalaka, Regency of Sumedang. The method applied in this research was mixed method, consisting of quantitative and survey method. The results of this research showed that the weight of waste generation in District of Cimalaka was 0.38 kg/person/day, while the composition of these waste include leftover food; papers; glass/ceramic; metals; plastics; each leather/rubber and wood; textiles; and other things. The potential of organic waste in developed into compost was as much as 104.047 kg/month, which has the potential of producing compost as much as 1.248.564 kg/year, which are distributed in Cimuja Village 4%, Cibeureum Wetan Village 7%, Cibeureum Kulon Village 7%, Mandalaherang Village 10%, Cimalaka Village 8%, Serang Village 4%, Galudra Village 4%, Cikole Village 5%, Trunamanggala Village 10%, Nyalindung Village 7%, Naluk Village 7%, Citimun Village 8%, Licin Village 14% and Padasari Village 4%. Management of organic waste for the development of composting could run optimally if there is the implementation of community-based empowerment which is facilitated by the government, because the enthusiasm of the people has already been high.
