Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya kemampuan membaca cepat peserta didik dalam memahami atau menyerap isi bacaan; penerapan teknik pembelajaran membaca di sekolah yang masih kurang tepat; serta penggunaan media yang kurang dan dirasa membosankan. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen kuasi dengan desain atau rancangan penelitian noequivalent control group desain. Peneliti memilih teknik skipping dikarenakan sintak dalam teknik ini dapat membantu siswa dalam proses memahami isi bacaan dengan waktu yang efektif, serta media yang digunakan yaitu aplikasi powerpoint dapat membantu pendidik dalam menyampaikan materi secara menarik. Hasil dari penelitian dihitung dengan menggunakan Uji Mann Withneyy yang menunjukkan signifikansi tes awal dan tes akhir 0,000 < 0,05. Maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Artinya, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pembelajaran membaca cepat peserta didik yang mendapat perlakuan teknik skipping pola horizontal. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik skipping pola horizontal efektif untuk pembelajaran membaca cepat karena dapat meningkatkan hasil pembelajaran di kelas eksperimen dengan signifikan ----- This research is motivated by the lack of ability to read quickly the students in understanding or absorbing the contents of the reading; the application of reading learning techniques in schools that are still not appropriate; and the use of media that is lacking and feels boring. The method of this research is quasi-experimental research with a design or design control group noequivalent design. The researcher chose the skipping technique because the syntax in this technique can help students in the process of understanding the contents of the reading with effective time, and the media used, namely the powerpoint application can help educators in conveying the material interestingly. The results of the study were calculated using the Mann Withneyy Test which showed the significance of the initial test and the final test 0,000 <0,05. Then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. That is, there are significant differences between the results of rapid reading learning of students who get treatment of horizontal pattern skipping techniques. It can be concluded that the horizontal pattern skipping technique is effective for speed reading learning because it can significantly improve the learning outcomes in the experimental class.
