Abstract

Pertumbuhan industri tekstil di Kabupaten Bandung memiliki pengaruh positif bagi masyarakat karena dapat menyerap tenaga kerja dalam jumlah yang besar sekaligus dapat meningkatkan pendapatan daerah. Namun dalam perjalanannya, industri ini diduga melakukan praktek pembuangan limbah tanpa melalui proses IPAL (Instalasi Pengelolaan Air Limbah) terlebih dahulu, sehingga terjadi pencemaran terhadap lahan di sekitar sungai Cikijing yang menjadi tempat buangan limbah industri. Kelompok masyarakat yang paling merasakan dampak pencemaran limbah industri adalah para petani sawah. Pencemaran limbah industri telah mengakibatkan penurunan kualitas dan kuantitas produksi sawah para petani. Permasalahan pencemaran yang tidak kunjung berakhir tidak serta merta menyurutkan petani untuk menyerah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat gambaran dari fenomena respon strategi yang dilakukan petani sawah dalam menghadapi dampak pencemaran limah industri dan faktor-faktor yang cenderung mendorong petani melakukan respon strategi tersebut. Penelitian ini bersifat eksploratif, menggunakan metode Kualitatif Deskriptif.Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa terdapat beberapa strategi yang dilakukan petani sawah dalam menghadapi dampak pencemaran limbah industri. Strategi yang dilakukan lahir melalui proses dan dorongan dari berbagai faktor serta pengalaman yang dialami dan diyakininya, kemudian diaplikasikan melalui cara, dan upaya teknis dalam berusaha tani. Berbagai upaya adaptasi tersebut lahir dengan satu tujuan utama, yaitu menjaga eksistensi usaha tani dan kehidupannya;---The growth of textile industry in Bandung Regency has a positive influence for the society because it can absorb large amount of labor and increase regional income. But on the way, the industry is suspected of doing waste disposal practices without going through the WWTP process (Installation of Wastewater Management) that contaminate the land around the Cikijing River which became an industrial waste disposal site. The most affected by the pollution of industrial waste are paddy farmers. Pollution of industrial waste has decreasing the quality and quantity of rice production. The problem of pollution that never ends does not discourage farmers to surrender. This study aims to describe the paddy farmers strategy in facing the impact of industrial pollution and factors that tend to encourage farmers to respond the strategy. This research is explorative, using Qualitative Descriptive method.The results of this research is that there are several strategies that farmers do in the face of the impact of industrial waste pollution. The undertaken strategies are born through the process and encouragement of various factors, experiences and beliefs, then applied by means, and technical efforts in farming. Various adaptation efforts are born with one main goal, to maintain the existence of farming and life.
