Abstract

Bibliocrime merupakan istilah yang digunakan untuk penyalahgunaan yang menjadi faktor penyebab rawannya kejahatan bagi koleksi perpustakaan. Bibliocrime atau penyalahgunaan koleksi itu sendiri terdiri atas tindakan pencurian, mutilasi, vandalisme hingga peminjaman tidak sah. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pola perilaku bibliocrime yang terjadi pada UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Pasundan, dan merupakan dasar paparan intensitas dan pola perilaku bibliocrime, faktor penyebab perilaku bibliocrime, dampak yang terjadi akibat perilaku bibliocrime, dan upaya dalam mengatasi perilaku bibliocrime itu sendiri. Dalam penelitian ini, faktor penyebab terjadinya perilaku bibliocrime menjadi fokus utama peneliti. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Intensitas kejadian bibliocrime di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Pasundan berkategori jarang, namun keempat tindakan tersebut pernah terjadi. Tindakan yang banyak terjadi adalah tindakan peminjaman tidak sah. (2) Faktor yang melandasi perilaku bibliocrime di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Pasundan adalah karena kebutuhan dan kurangnya pengawasan. (3) Dampak dari perilaku bibliocrime di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Pasundan ialah terpenuhinya kebutuhan pelaku, kerugian sosial berupa timbulnya rasa kecewa dari pemustaka lain akibat tidak tersedianya koleksi yang diperlukan, dan kerugian finansial dirasakan ketika pelaku harus mengganti koleksi yang dihilangkannya. (4) Selain mewajibkan pelaku untuk mengganti koleksi yang dihilangkannya, perpustakaan mengharuskan untuk memperpanjang masa berlaku kartu anggota perpustakaan, dan mengajukan CCTV ke pihak universitas untuk identifikasi kasus. Belum ada upaya khusus dalam mengatasi perilaku bibliocrime di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Pasundan. ..... Bibliocrime is a term used for misuse which is a risk factor for crime for library collections. Bibliocrime consists of theft, mutilation, vandalism and un-authorized borrowing. This research is aimed to find out how bibliocrime behavior patterns occur at the Pasundan University Library, which will later describe the intensity and patterns of bibliocrime behavior, factors that cause bibliocrime, the effects that occur due to bibliocrime, and efforts to overcome bibliocrime.In this study, the main focus of the research is the factors that underlie the occurence of bibliocrime. This research use a qualitative approach with a case study method. The data collection process was carried out using interview, observation and documentation study techniques. Data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: (1) The intensity of bibliocrime occurrences at Pasundan University Library falls into the category of sparse, but all of this actions has ever done. The most common action is illegal borrowing. (2) The factors that cause the occurence of bibliocrime behavior at Pasundan University Library are due to the needs and lack of supervision. (3) The impact of bibliocrime behavior at Pasundan University Library is the fulfillment of the needs of the perpetrator, the social loss in the form of a sense of disappointment other user due to the unavailability of collections needed, and financial losses felt when the perpetrator must replace the self-lost collection. (4) In addition to requiring the perpetrator to replace the self-lost collection, the user is also asked to extend the validity period of the library member card, and submit CCTV to the university. There has been no special effort in addressing bibliocrime behavior at Pasundan University Library.
