Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya penalaran moral dalam proses perkembangan peserta didik. Peserta didik akan dihadapkan pada situasi tertentu yang akan menuntut mereka untuk menentukan pilihan dengan kemampuan nalarnya. Penalaran moral adalah kemampuan berpikir untuk menganalisis suatu tindakan yang dilakukan dengan memperhatikan aturan dalam situasi tertentu, sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan moral. Tujuan penelitian adalah menghasilkan data empirik penalaran moral peserta didik Kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 40 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019 yang akan menghasilkan rumusan program bimbingan pribadi secara hipotetik sesuai dengan hasil temuan. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik Kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 40 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019 sebanyak 313 orang dengan menggunakan sampel total. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penalaran moral peserta didik berada pada tingkat prakonvensional. Peserta didik belum memperhatikan internalisasi dari nilai moral baik atau buruk. Deskripsi berdasarkan indikator menghasilkan persentase pencapaian yang bervariasi di masing-masing indikator. Berdasarkan hasil temuan dirumuskan program bimbingan pribadi yang layak menurut pakar dan praktisi bimbingan dan konseling untuk mengembangkan penalaran moral peserta didik.

Research is based by the importance of moral reasoning in the development of students. Students will be faced with certain situations that will require them to determine the choice with their logical abilities. Moral reasoning is the ability to think about analyze an action carried by observing the rules in a particular situation, according to the stages of moral development respectively. Purpose of the research is generate empirical data of moral reasoning profile of VIII grade students in SMP Negeri 40 Bandung Academic Year 2018/2019 and to formulate hypothetic personal guidance programs in accordance with the findings. Design of the research used is a survey design. The research approach uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The research sample is 313 student of VIII grade at SMP Negeri 40 Bandung Academic Year 2018/2019 using total samples. The research results show the moral reasoning of students at a preconvensional level. Students have not paid attention to the internalization of good or bad moral values. Descriptions based on indicators result in a varied percentage of achievements in each indicator. Based on the findings formulated a worthy personal guidance program according to experts and guidance practitioners and counseling to develop the moral reasoning of students.
