Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hambatan yang dialami anak tunarungu tingkat dasar di dalam hal bahasa ekspresif non verbal (menulis) diantaranya adalah kalimat tidak beraturan (tidak berstruktur) sehingga sulit dipahami. Proses komunikasi pada siswa tunarungu seringkali menjadi masalah karena ketunarunguannya yang berdampak kepada cara mereka dalam keterampilan berkomunikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pengembangan media papan konstruksi kalimat untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menyusun struktur kalimat pada anak tunarungu tingkat dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis data secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan melibatkan 8 subjek penelitian. Desain dan analisis data kualitatif terkait dengan kemampuan menyusun struktur kalimat anak tunarungu kelas dasar. Sedangkan data kuantitatif berkaitan dengan efektivitas media terhadap peningkatan kemampuan menyusun struktur kalimat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa: (1) sebagian besar siswa tunarungu tingkat dasar memiliki kemampuan menyusun struktur kalimat yang rendah, sehingga pengembangan media pembelajaran perlu diciptakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa di lapangan. (2) penggunaan pengembangan media papan konstruksi kalimat terbukti cukup efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa tunarungu tingkat dasar yang menjadi subjek penelitian. Implikasinya terhadap pembelajaran pengembangan media papan konstruksi kalimat ini dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran siswa tunarungu tingkat dasar untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menyusun struktur kalimat siswa tunarungu baik di sekolah maupun di rumah.---The basis of this reseach was the obstacles of the hearing impairment students in primary level on expressing his/her non verbal language (writing) so the sentence construction that she/he uses becomes nonstandard structure for others, as the result, some of them are ambigue. In accordance to this, communication process among the hearing impairement students have become an issue which affect the process of the communication among them. The aim of this reaseach was to determinate the effectiveness of the development of sentence construction board media to improve the sentence building ability for hearing impairement students in primary level. The method of the research applied was mix methods, using design and qualitative and quantitative data analysis method which were involving 8 research subjects. The design and qualitative data analysis related to the sentence construction ability among the hearing impairement students, while quantitative data analysis related to the effectiveness of the media toward the progress of the sentence construction ability toward them. The preliminary result showed that (1) most of the hearing impairement students in primary level had low ability in building the sentence so that a media was needed to create for them in order to enrich their sentence building ability. (2) The reinforcement of the sentence construction board had given some significant progrees toward the hearing impairement students as the subject of the research. As the implication, the sentence construction board can be applied as an alternate media to improve the ability of sentence building among the hearing impairement students in primary level both at school and home.
