    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis argumentasi siswa kelas VII yang diberi pelatihan bernalar dengan siswa yang tidak diberi pelatihan bernalar. Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan di salah satu SMP Negeri Bandung menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen dengan posttest only control group design. Sampel penelitian melibatkan dua kelas VII yang dipilih secara random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan video pembelajaran dan instrumen tes kemampuan argumentasi. Data argumentasi siswa yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis berdasarkan aspek kelogisan, kelengkapan komponen argumen, kekuatan argumen, dan gender. Perbedaan kemampuan argumentasi siswa di kedua kelompok penelitian dianalisis menggunakan SPSS versi 18. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan argumentasi siswa kelompok eksperimen dengan kelompok kontrol baik dalam aspek kelogisan, kelengkapan komponen argumen, kekuatan argumen, dan juga gender. Hal tersebut dapat disebabkan karena kesulitan yang dihadapi oleh siswa dalam memahami konten sains, sehingga siswa mengalami hambatan untuk bernalar saat mengajukan sebuah argumen. Oleh karena itu, guru hendaknya mampu merencanakan serta melaksanakan proses pembelajaran yang dapat memicu siswa untuk menguasai konten sains dan mengembangkan kemampuan bernalarnya dalam proses berargumentasi.;---This study aimed to analyze the arguments of seventh-grade students with reasoning training and without reasoning training. The research activities carried out in one of the SMP Negeri Bandung using experimental research with posttest only control group design.The research sample involved two classes VII and selected by random sampling. Data were collected by using instructional videos and argumentation ability test instrument. Data of students’ argumentation was analyzed based on aspects of the logic, components of the argument, the strength of argument, and gender. Differences in argumentation ability of students in both groups were analyzed using SPSS version 18. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the experimental group students' argumentation abilities with the control group both in terms of the logic, components of the argument, the strength of argument, and also gender. It could be due to the difficulties faced by the students in understanding science content so that students have barriers to reason when filing an argument. Therefore, teachers should be able to plan and implement the learning process that can lead students to master science content and develop students’ reasoning ability in the process of arguing.
